DH and I are considering wheather our 9 pm bedtime is to early for our DD 10.

She skates at 7 am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings so we always TRY to get her down by 9 pm every night. She has no problem getting up in the morning when she stays up past her bedtime and other people tell me their kids stay up later than she does.

My children are younger, soon to be 4 and 5. They go to bed at 7:30, which usually means they are asleep by 8:00. They get up early and do not take naps.

DS12 9:00
DS10 8:30
DS7 7:45

They get up around 6:30 so that they can see their dad in the morning. (Their choice)

Kids need sleep to function, so it is a priority here. Unless something way cool (friends over, family here, etc.) is going on, they are in bed on time.

DS3.5 6:30-7:00
DD1.5 6:00-6:30

I know this seems SO early - but it's just the way our system worked out. They are both early risers, and nothing I have ever done has changed that. So "early to bed" at our house! :-)

DD - 5 yrs old - 8 bedtime so she'll wake up by 6:45

DS 12, 9:30. Any later than that and we have a tough time getting him up in the morning. In the summer and on breaks we let him stay up pretty much as late as he wants.

DD is three years old and her bedtime is 8:00. She fights it every step of the way, though!

Both of my kids, 2.5 and 8, have an 8pm bedtime. In reality, that means tv off at 7:30 and jammies on, teeth brushed and stories read. IF there is any time after that, TV can come back on until 8pm - that has never actually happened. This way they are actually in bed and ready for sleep at 8pm. Some days, I still think it's too late because they are very crabby at 6:30am when it's time to get up - but they have no problem waking up on their own at 6:30am on weekends.

My DD's are 2 1/2 and 14 months, they both share a room and they go in at 9:30 pm and talk until around 1030,lol and both wake up at 7am.

We are trying to get them in a little earlier but I dont want to just put them in their room to cry if they are still that awake, know what I mean. I sure hope their bedtime gets a little earlier as they get older, lol

DS8 is about 10-10:30 but he doesn't get up till 7:30. DD15 whenever she is done with homework usually around 11 When she was 10 I would say it was around 10 sometimes 10:30 if a lot of work Weekends and Summer I don't care and it is around 12 usually. We aren't morning people. I'm up till 11-12 myself.
Some kids just don't need as much sleep as others. My DD never ever napped. As a newborn she would be awake 8 or more hours at a time. I try to let them set their own natural clocks if they are tired in the morning they have to go to bed earlier. My DS never sleeps for more than about 9 hours even on the weekends. Do what is best for your child not what everyone says should be best.

wow...:rotfl: I feel like a bad mom all of the sudden. :) My DS11 and DD6 go to bed at 8. the DD is asleep within minutes, the DS I know stays up later, but its bedroom by 8. I think he reads until 8:30.

On nights that aren't school nights they stay up until 9 or 9:30. But even on those days they are both up and ready to go by 7.

both DS 6 and DD 10 go to bed (lights out) for 8:30. That means change brush teeth etc @ 8 and get in to read for the rest of the time. Just works out this way. Weekends it is 9 the latest...I don't like to throw off their clock---they can do whatever if they sleep out so it becomes a treat. Never once have they complained about bed time. They like their sleep ;)

Wow, great question! DS5 goes to bed at 8:30, and is pretty hard sometimes to wake him up at 6:30. I have been trying to get him in a little earlier, like 8:00, but DH doesn't want him to. We don't get home from work until 5:30, so we have so little time with him as it is. I kinda agree with DH, so haven't been pressing the issue. :confused3

DD 8 - bed at 9, reading til lights out at 9:30 - gets woken up at 7:30

DS 17 - bed by 10, gets up at 6:15 for a 6:45 a.m. class

DS7 and DS11 both have to be IN bed and ready to sleep at 9pm. If my DS7 is crabby then he has to go to bed at 8:45. We try to make sure they are getting between 9 -10 hours of sleep each night.

My girls are 11, 8, 6 & 3. They all go to bed around 8:30. On Thursday nights they stay up until 9pm to watch Survivor.
My oldest has to wake up at 5:30 every morning for school so the bedtime is just right. On weekend we let them stay up until 9 or 9:30.
It's important for DH and I to have "alone" time at night.

My DD 14 months does best if she goes to bed around 9:30PM. For a while she was down to 1 nap and wanted to go to bed around 7PM, but she always slept horribly. She's back to having a second nap and a later bedtime, and it's helping her sleep quality so far.

My DS 4 goes to bed at 9:30 then with story, hugs and stuff goes to sleep at 10. He wakes at 7:30. He also has a noon nap from 1:30 to 4:30 so I dont mind the late bed time for him

DS 18mths goes to bed at 7:30 and is up by 6:00 or 6:15.
DD 9 goes to bed at 8:00 and is up at 6:15
DS 12 goes to bed at 9:00 and is up at 6:15.

If DD goes to bed any later she is a cranky child the next morning. DS 18mths sometimes even goes to bed at 7:00 and sleeps all night until about 5:45. I do not mind since I am up at 5:30--like the one on one time.
