What's your #1 tip that you learned here on the DIS?

Is CRT now a character meal for lunch? Last time I went it was only breakfast. We're not an early morning family so lunch works out better.

Thanks for the info MomofKatie.

You learn something new everyday!

1. Get to the parks early. Not only will you have time to go on several rides before the crowds hit, but yo get to see the opening ceremony. Such fun.

2. Airwalks shoes from Payless. My feet thank all of you who have participated in discussion threads about these shoes.

3. ziplocs. made early mornings more bearable without having to fight with dd about her outfits!

Have to agree about the ziploc bags and fast pass!!!!
Life was so so easy the the ziploc bags.
Neat post Idea!!! Thanks. :flower:

I have not tried the ziplocs for clothes but I have used it for shoes and my toiletry bag. I put all shower items in one bag, moisturizer, eye cream, sunblock in one, hair products in one, jewelry in one, dry items in one, etc. I have done the same method for DH's toiletry kit. The mini size/snack size are great for hair ties, bobby pins, etc and also jewelry.

We did breakfast in our room and actually made sandwiches for lunch & kept in backpack. We used the town care service w/ free grocery stop.

I woke up a bit earlier one morning & did a load of laundry in between showering & getting ready. Clothes were done by the time I was ready & DH was out of shower.

Learned sooo much from here. I like all of the ideas of what to pack, what to have in the room and what to bring into the parks. I am able to choose what will work for me.

My tips:

Make Priority Seating arrangements for lunch at the parks around 1:00. This is a good time to sit and relax...get out of the sun and have a good meal. Lunch is less expensive too.

Remember with the new ticketing options that the more days you buy, the less a ticket is per day. For instance, I originally purchased tickets for five days for my daughter and myself. Since we are staying six nights, I looked again at ticket options and realized that for $11 more - for both of us - I could get tickets for seven days. Since I got only Base tickets, I feel I can use the extra "days" for a half day at one park and half day at another. Or perhaps feel comfortable about only doing a half day at a park or even going to MK on the day we arrive knowing we'll only get to be there a few hours.

Take advantage of the "Free Dining" special for this Fall. It will save you a fortune and allow you to try dining experiences you would not normally try...a sit down lunch for example.

Of course I have to second (third, fourth, etc) the two ideas of getting to the parks early and slowing down. The first allows the second. Why do we like WDW over parks like Six Flags and Sea World? Because of the DETAILS. WDW is famous for attention to details...don't forget to really look around.

My favorite memory of MK (and I've been many, many times) is early in the morning. I let my hubby and son sleep in. I went to MK and simply spent about two hours on Main Street looking at the details...going down "alleys" I would not normally have bothered to go down...looked up and all around...simply amazing what you'll see, hear and smell.

The best tip I got here is the info for getting CRT!!! I got it every time I tried for it. :cheer2:

The ziplock bag packing method is great too...!!

I love the DIS!! :grouphug:

Can someone provide the link/info on how to get CRT....
many thanks.

I have read about these before but don't know what moleskins are (or where to get them). Also does roll on deodourant work against the blister thing (does it have to be the spray kind?) and do you do it for kids as well?
Thanks (1st trip in Aug) :cheer2:

Moleskin is a product that helps tremendously with blisters. I had never used it until our trip this year (6/11-6/18), but I read about it on this board and was glad I had some. My feet were hurting about 3 days in so I put some moleskin on the sore spots and it stopped the pain of walking! :goodvibes
It's kind of felt-like in feel, but it has an adhesive on one side and you cut a piece the size you need (it comes in one long roll) and stick it to your foot. Sounds simple - and it is - but really does work! :cheer2:
I found it at Wal-Mart with the band-aid products.
Good luck & have fun at Disney!! :earboy2:

If it's your first trip, read the Unofficial Guide to WDW cover to cover with a highlighter.
That is SO true. My sister had already been a few times, and had mentioned that she'd tried to get a reservation for CRT without success. I borrowed her Unofficial Guide (which she had only skimmed), read it cover to cover, and explained to her why she wasn't able to get in!

That shoe bag over the door for tolietries has been a godsend. I now use the shoe bag on most all my trips away and I have considered making one out of a big towel to hang behind bathroom door at home. Also considering making one for gbabys nursery to be used near the changing table.

Get up hit the parks early then afternoon break for a nap and swim.

Eat breakfast in room while another showers one can be eating. Take cereal and bowls and spoons from home or buy along the way. We always have a cooler for the room and take our own milk then buy more milk as needed in the gift shop when needed.

Cheat and buy extra post cards while at WDW next visit address the post cards and write the message on them before ya leave home then at WDW drop in mail box.

Take disney stuffed toys and the housekeepers will arrange them around the room. (Thinking of even doing this for our adult only visit next month lol)

Not only does the ziplock bags work for packing but laying all clothing out the night before helps as well.

The moleskin didn't work for us tho. Just ended up gettin a blister in another spot then and eventually our whole feet would have been covered in mole skin lol

Have a good basic idea of where ya want to go every day and where it is at before ya ever head into the parks. (My personal belief is WDW should send everyone who books thru them a map of each park at least a half acre big with EVERYTHING marked on map just for booking with them;) hehehe) Yeah be a bit of a problem for some to unfold the map but most could at least take the maps to local park and walk thru. Hmmmm a little mini visit to disney anytime we wanted:)

Okay - I know this seems obvious but sometimes in the excitement of everything you can forget to take PICTURES :teeth: So my advice is to take pictures of everything! Don't even put your camera away (unless you are going on a water ride) :goodvibes My other suggestion would be to participate in the stroller swap. This was a huge lifesaver! Our ds was almost 3 but we didn't want to lug a stroller with us to the places we were visiting before we did Disney so we did the stroller swap - worked like a charm!!

:wave2: Hi there, Ive just signed up for the 1st time on this disc. I am also going to take my 2 1/2 yrs old twin boys this yr in decemeber to wdw for the first time, we are all very excited. I need some tips:

HA, I ALWAYS forget to take pictures and I'm a picture fanatic! Then I get so mad at myself for not taking them!

Can you tell me what a stroller swap is please?

I learned that you can buy lanyards at Walmart that have a ziplock ID holder in them for tickets and money etc. They are only about 1.00. :cheer2:

Dish wipes for washing out mugs, cups, snack containers, etc.......

Night lights for the room, spray deoterant for feet, moleskin and one I haven't seen here is to bring your own glow stick/necklace/ bracelets. We have bought them at Target or Walmart, and the kids wear them around their necks, wrists, on their heads, or DD wrapps them in her hair. It makes spotting them (or keeping track of them) in the parks at night when it gets really crowded easier.
