What's wrong with Stitch's Great Escape?

Thanks for the replies everyone! We have so many other things to do, and so little time to do them, that I'll think we'll skip this one. Not sure my mother even knows who stitch is!

We LOVED IT!! It is loud and stinky and little ones might be scared, but for my 7 yr old son and 9 yr old son at the time....was great!! We are going back Feb 2011 , they are now 13 and 15 and are looking forward to it. We adore stitch though...even have a boston terrier named Stitch. So, we are one of the (looks like) few fans.

I have been on both AE and stitch-they really didn't change much. For adults and older kids who know what they are getting into it's fine, but for young kids it can be pretty scary. I have seen many a small child come out screaming and refusing to go on other rides-so tread lightly! :scared1:

I'm going on a quick weekend getaway with my mother in January and trying to decide if we should put it in the itinerary.

Thanks!

yeah...don't take Mom as you have already decided. It's not for her.

BUT...I will give a shout out to Stitch.

When Lilo and Stitch came out as a movie it was well received and remains a good flick. It has faded over time as a HIT....but it is a good movie. WDW did go a little overboard pushing Stitch back then, but you know what? He is a GREAT character. The ending montage of pictures from the movie Lilo & Stitch is AWESOME, as is the movie. Stitch is cool. The ride is fine....I have fun when I do it and I like that the line is short. :lmao:

and p.s. it is a 1000X better than Mission To Mars which occupied the real estate before Stitch and Alien Encounter.

We refer to it as "the stupid waste of time" because that's what it is. There's the smell, the harness that pushes down and hurts unless you know to stop it before it comes all the way down at the beginning of the ride. It's nothing more then sounds and flashes of light and really, it's very lame.

It's a very odd attraction. They strap you in like something big is going to happen but it never does.

The shoulder harness is used for the effects: they move it up and down so it seems like Stitch is bouncing on your shoulders, there's speakers in it to create a more 3D effect; etc.

I do have to agree though, the first time I went on Alien Encounter back in the day, I thought the room was going to spin or something! Of course, I was in elementary school, and one of my friends had told me that the ride spun around in circles and then dropped you into a pool of water!! :scared1: And of course, I believed him! :lmao:

I actually love the attraction- I do it once every trip. Overall AE was a much, much better attraction (I didn't cry or anything and I was 8 or 9! I was a bit anxious when I went in though and I'm sure I plugged my ears), but Stitch is my favorite character- I can't resist going on this ride for the sole purpose of seeing the cutest alien in the world!! :thumbsup2

We have a Miniature Pinscher named Stitch. We love Stitch's Great Escape. If the shoulder restraints bother you, just don't sit all the way down when they start to lower, and they will leave room between your shoulders and the restraint bars.

I like it enough. My son said it was his favorite attraction when we went for his 7th birthday. The problem for those of us that DO like it is that there is inevitably one kid on every ride that is screaming at the top of their lungs, and is usually escorted out by a CM with a flashlight. I would love to ride it and actually be able to hear the whole thing. And the flashlight absolutely ruins the mood of the effects. :(
