I made PS to this restaurants ( chef mickey, ohana, concourse steak house and so on) because of the good reviews , and now I just saw a new thread that there are not good choices after all, I'm having second thoughts :confused3 This is our first trip to wdw but it sure is making me crazy , please help... first the resort , good thing I made a new reservation :goodvibes , then the restaurants choices , then the airline mechanics may go on strike 4 days before our trip :sad1: no idea what's going to happen there , now the hurricane season is not looking good during our trip :scared1: , and one more time the restaurant choices :guilty: ..

sorry , I'm just a mom that wants a happy trip for my princess: princess:.

No, no dont change them I am also going to those places around the same time you are!! Listen people opinions are just that, their opinions, that wont mean you wont enjoy them. I heard bad reviews on Sci Fi and my family loved it!
I hear lots of good things about CM and Ohanas so dont worry. Also about hurricane season, I am not even watching what is going on because I dont want to worry but no matter what I would not change your plans because if some reason the parks close you will be able to use the passes again and the resort will probably give you more nights too, I have this info from someone who spent several days during one of FL worst hurricanes last year... Airline strike, that would be out of your hands so no use worrying about it just keep an eye out for other tickets, and find out what the airline will do for you if there is a strike and ask for it in writing... Hope this helps, hey be wearing you lime mickeys so we can say hello.. See ya there..

last trip i kept changing my ressies according to the whims of those on these boards and guess what -we didn't love some places and loved some so i'd say go by the menus, if it looks like something you'd like, go for it and remember 30,000 differing opinions can't be all right!

You have to remember - all these people are giving their OPINIONS based on their experience. You may have a totally different experience or you may like something completely different than they like. Treat them as OPINIONS and enjoy the meals you have ressies for - then you can come back to the boards & write your own OPINIONS!!!!! :goodvibes
Enjoy your trip and TRUST ME - "don't sweat the small stuff"!!! Most of your vacation will be what YOU make of it anyway - not what someone else's opinions make of it!!! :earboy2:

I totally agree with going by menus. The tide can change a lot here and bad reviewers are always more vocal than good ones.

Personally, I *love* 'Ohana! I've eaten there 3 times and I still love it! I plan on going there again in December and it is one of 3 meals by dbf picked- he loved Sci Fi and 'Ohana and wants to do them again and also wants to try San Angel because he thought it looked so beautiful and romantic. I've seen poor reviews for all three of those, but I don't really care. It's worth a try to form your own opinion.

One thing that it difficult is that I've seen neg reviews that just say how bad it was with absolutely no supporting evidence, reasons, illustrations, details or examples. Those reviews are worthless to me.

As an example, I was deciding between Boma and Chef Mickey's for breakfast. I saw tons of neg on Chef Mickey's. I've asked twice why it was so bad and no one could give me an explanation or example.

Just relax and pray that the airline mechanics settle down and get happy! :cheer2:

Okay, let me tell you a story (please bare with me)...

I have family that lives in Brownsville, TX. Several years ago they were fleeing a hurricane in were stuffed in the cab of a truck (2 adults, 3 girls) and put their dog in the bed of the truck. It was raining and very windy and my cousin Celina was worried that the dog would fly out. She kept crying "the dog is going to fly out I just know it." My aunt had enough and she snapped her head towards Celina and said, "if he fly's, he fly's!" Well that is now our family motto.

So the lesson here is how bad can it be? You are going to the happiest place on earth. Will you have a bad meal at one of these restaurants? Maybe, or maybe not. Will it ruin your stay? Only if you let it. Did you pick the right hotel? My guess is you did and if you didnt would you know? Your vacation will have a few bumps in it but who cares it all part of the adventure. It will be magical. So in honor of my cousin Celina....."If he fly's, he fly's. Go with the flow.

Enjoy your trip. :earboy2:

Another thing to keep in mind is some people will judge a place 'bad' by a standard you would never apply. I have heard people say Chef Mickey's is loud... well duh.

We ate at Chef Mickey's and my kids asked to go back this year. It was a crazy, wild, hectic meal and the food was neither good nor bad. I didn't think my kids really liked it because they are a bit shy and on the quiet side- but when I asked them about it they said they loved it. I would go back just for the photos (I got a great one of Mickey and my DH, and tons of the kids).

One of my favorite places gets very mixed reviews here (Coral Reef). Last year I was worried that it must have changed but gave it a try because we just loved it. It was the same old Coral Reef and we had a wonderful meal.

That's a great motto :rotfl2: thanks

I agree with the others. We'll be there about the same time as you as well. Trust me, all of this is overwhelming to many of us and it can really drive you nuts and get you majorly :confused3 . Relax, enjoy and if things are quite right, go with it. You will have the time of your life. I remember reading about vacations with kids when my ds was young and someone said that most of the expectations are in our (adults) minds and we can build up some very high expectations. We want it all to be perfect but kids still fight, spouse can get irritable, the heat can get you....the list is enormous. However, the point of the vacation is to have fun and create memories for your family. We are going to CM's and I have a ds12 who wants to go there. The food may not be the best or he may be older than many of the kids there but we are going and going to have a great time.

Hope to see you there!

gosh, if I never ate anywhere that had a bad review from time to time, we'd be starving on vacation!

DON'T SWEAT IT! Go, create your own exp, and post back to tell us how great things were! A bad meal is NOT going to ruin your vacation! (and for the record, we've yet to have a truly bad meal anywhere - ever. Not just at Disney)

I'm going Sept. 25-Oct. 1, and I've made ressies at some of the same places you have- Chef Mickey's, Concourse Steak House, LeCellier, Sci Fi, Boma and Liberty Tree Tavern (MNSSHP night).

We are giong with my parent's who have never been, and my 2 year old daughter, and I think we will have a blast and I think a huge part will just be getting to eat with Characters and the atmosphere!

O'Hana's was my husband's favorite meal last trip, and on any future trips, I've been instructed that we WILL eat there. Other than that he leaves it up to me.

Everyone has different tastes. If they looked good to you, go with it. Besides, every meal can't be you favorite!!

We went last year during hurricane season. I went back and forth trying to decide if we should rebook. I finally decided that being at Disney during a hurricane still beats being at work! We missed all the storms, the last one by just two days. Trust me, in two days pretty much everything had been cleaned up, and you could hardly tell (at the parks) that there had been a problem.

As far as the restaurants go... I trust the good reviews, and take the bad ones into consideration. If it's a restaurant that I thought sounded interesting, I'll give it a try myself before totally relying on someone who may have been having a bad day, or who may have been served by someone having a bad day.
