What's wrong with MGM?

After reading many posts, it seems a lot of people rank Disney MGM as their least favorite. We are going to WDW for the 1st time in 2 weeks and I wanted to know why so many people do not like MGM?

I don't dislike MGM, as a matter of fact, it would be tied with MK for me. My favourite park is Epcot, then MK and MGM with AK backing it up.

I think that one of the things missing at MGM is just the fact it needs a little more to do (some attractions are closed) There used to be more street performances before, and I don't see the use of the playground etc., also for as much as I like Indiana Jones, it needs to change.

Still.......I like the park and can't wait to go back! :)

I dont think you have to worry about anything. I personally like MGM and think its a great park. There is alot to do and see. If you dont like it there is always a ferry that leaves there and goes to Epcot. :)

DBF and I both agree that MGM runs a close second to MK. When we were there in May 05, we ran out of time to do everything that we wanted to. Alot of what goes on in MGM is shows and we did find in NOvemeber, that you just don't need to do them twice in a year - but other then that, we love it. I love the Hollywood themeing etc. I imagine you will get a split vote on this topic because some love it and some hate it - its all a matter of opinion - go there and come up with your own!!! :thumbsup2

MGM is my least favorite of the four, so I was surprised on my last trip when I went with my sister and nephew, and it ended up being their favorite park! All a matter of taste, I guess!

MGM is great. My family love all the parks. MGM is definitely not our least favorite.

Only MK ranks higher than MGM for me! However, you do need to look at the show times and organize your schedule first thing, or else you run the risk of not getting them all in. I think the Hollywood street characters and skits are hilarious!! :rotfl2:

The first time we went to MGM we were very disappointed with it. Then after we left (we gave it 1/2 day) everyone was telling us to give it another chance. The next time we went and we love it now and we spent a whole day from morning to night there now. Don't give up on it so quick and relax and enjoy all the rides and show's. You'll be surprised

:grouphug: we heading to WDW Feb. or March 2007 :sunny:

I love all 4 parks! MGM ranks #3 for me, but I still love the park. At Disney, even 'least favorite" is still great.

We like MGM too. Like others said - it's not so much about rides - witht the exception of RnRc and ToT!

We find it a much slower paced type of day at MGM...

I love MGM! Of course, I am a huge movie fan, so it's really a no-brainer for me. I'd have to say it's my second favorite park, right behind MK. It'll be the second park we go to when we go in September. I can't wait!!

MGM is our 17 y/o's favorite park. My 13 y/o's favorite ride (Star Tours) is there and overall I have to say that DH and I enjoy it also. I love Star Wars and Indiana Jones...so I can just walk around that area and be content. DH claims one his favorites is Lights, Motors, Action! Our entire family's favorite nighttime show is Fantasmic!

But, everyone has different opinions. In our little family of four, we each have a different "favorite" park, we each have a different "favorite" ride and show (except for Fantasmic...that's unanimous with us).

I say give it chance...you will probably find at least one attraction that winds up at the top of your list even if the park overall is not your favorite.

MGM is my fave!!! i love how people aren't constantly running to get to the next ride (well some are, but most aren't) i also feel that there are less little kids constantly crying and parents yelling (well actually i've never walked around the playhouse disney area for a reason :) )
but the best part of MGM is the hollywood 50's feeling you get when you walk around the park! i absolutely love it!!!

MGM and MK used to be pretty closely tied for being my favorite parks, but now MGM is last. In the last few months, MGM eliminated many characters meetings, which is a big part of why I liked MGM. There used to be some great ones meeting there, but for whatever reason, Disney took them all away. So hardly any good random characters to look for anymore. And with so many shows, sometimes you can wind up with not much available to do at certain times. I have had this issue many times in the couple hours before Fantasmic - somewhat bored in the late afternoon/early evening. :(

On my last trip, I spent a total of two hours at MGM, on an 8 day trip.

MGM is my favorite park, but I'm a big movie buff person. I love the feel of "Old Hollywood". I think it's a matter of personal taste. I'm not a big animal lover so AK is my least favorite park.

They certainly are!!! Like those 3 guys from the plumbing company..they're great!

I love this park! Of course I did work there during college so it holds a special place in my heart. There are show I don't care for, but theres so much variety. Our DD absolutely loved The Little Mermaid and our oldest loved Star Tours. Hope you'll go and form your own opinion :rotfl:
