What's wrong with me?

I just noticed that my counter is at 11 days. The kids are packed. Most of the plans are finalized over and over. And I'm not getting excited. I don't know why not. Half of my activities everyday are related to buying this for the trip or double checking that for the trip. Yet I'm not jumping up and down in anticipation, not having any dreams about Disney, not counting down in hours how long until we leave. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?????

you should sit down and watch the planning video or some other disney movie, cartoon to get you in the mood.

It kind of reminds me of being pregnant..months and months of planning, shopping, wishing, imagining and waiting and you get sooo close to the end but by then you're at the just get it out stage. (Or in this case, just get it over) But once it actually arrives, and you get your 1st glimpse of that lovely baby, er, WDW sign or the castle you'll take a deep breath, smile and know "THIS is what I've been waiting for" :cloud9:

I agree with la79al, pop in the WDW planning vidoe, surf the web for some WDW photos, resort pics etc to get you in the mood. Hope ya'll have a great trip!!

The same thing kind of happened to me in December. I actually think I was burned out by all the planning and as the trip got closer I wasn't as excited as I thought I'd be. Instead of watching videos and trying to get the mood back, I'd just wait it out. As soon as you get on the plane or in the car and it becomes a reality, you'll get the excitement back!

Been there and done that...................pre-trip jitters, do I have this, did I do that. Once I hit the Florida heat and humidity, I know we're home, just seeing the first piece of monorail track, first monorail then the main gate welcoming me back to the Magic Kingdom and finally pulling into the cochere is magic and I transform into a smiling fool. My wife says you couldn't wipe the grin off my face with a 2x4. This will be our 39th trip this September, I count the days but am not all that excited, comes closer and I would rather stay home, I relax on the train ride down and start to get giddy in the cab to WDW, then look out. Never want to leave and go home.

The first glimpse at Main Street in the MK, smelling of the pop corn wagon, the shops, oh baby, I'm in heaven. The first dip in the pool at the resort or the first beer and sandwich at the pool, well let me tell you, " It don't get any better than this", if God made anything better than this he kept it for himself.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Come on December and OKW!:thumbsup2 :cloud9:

It's probably just not "real" to you yet! It'll hit you soon enough! Sometimes its easier to wait when your not so hyped up about it!

Are ya breathing? I leave in 6 days and I can't stand it. We went two years ago and have been planning this trip ever since. Stop planning, stop packing, stop stressing and just dwell on the fact that you are going to Disney World! Seriously, if you're not excited, call your doctor and see if some kind of pill is right for you.

Hey! I just noticed we're leaving the same day! And you're also from PA!
I get the same way, sort of. Yes, I'm excited inside but on the surface my mind is going constantly thinking of what has to be done before we go. We have very busy schedules and there's a lot to be done in the 9 days before we leave. However, I did wake up this morning and think to myself: Wow! We're in the single digits!!!:yay:

It'll hit you the day before you leave, you'll get no sleep! I wish I was like that though, I'm already getting excited for my trip.. and I haven't even made reservations!

You'll realize what's happening, and you'll be so giddy! Have a fun time:wizard:

Ditto to all that was mentioned above, and I also believe that "Half the fuin is getting there," you know? I so enjoyed all of the pre-trip planning, and the disboards, and the WDW anticipation, that I was already grieving that that this part of the trip (the dreaming about all of the excitement that was ahead of us!) was over. I felt this way before our trip and even during and esp. after----BTW--ever see your kids do this as well? They beg to go some place and when you finally do take them, they are moody and mierable---It's all just too much!

So no, know there is nothing wrong with you at all. Just sprinkle some Pixie Dust on yourself when you feel like Eyeore, keep counting those blessings and remind yourself that you are doing the very best thing you can do for your family---taking them on vacation to Disney!!!

It's called ANTICIPATION! The planning & excitement is half the fun. About a week prior to the trip I get more nervous than excited - what if the kids get sick the night before & they're too sick to get on a plane, what if the flight gets cancelled, what if we all get sick in Disney, etc. This is completely normal! Like all the others said - once you pass through those gates the excitement will come flooding back! Then you have to deal with the post-trip blues.....:( WDW trips are an emotional roller coaster!

Don't worry! You'll be fine! Once you get there you will feel the magic! Thats just how DW is! I wouldn't let it worry you! Just have a wonderful time on your trip. :thumbsup2
