What's with the Wait list Confirmation???

So in the past it seemed that when wait lists matched they disappeared from your dashboard and within a few hours you got the email saying the wait list was confirmed. 3 times in the past few months I have called to check on something else and the cast member says "Oh, I see that your wait list for X date/s have matched. Do you want to go ahead and confirm that?" Well yeah! It happened again today so I asked why it didn't show up on the website and she said "Well I guess no one had opened your account to make the change. The match came through a few days ago"
Now don't get me wrong....I'm not complaining, after all my wait list days have now all come through, but I have to wonder how many times I have changed or canceled a wait list that had already matched but we were never notified. Are we going to have to keep calling member services to check on wait list status every few days and drive them nuts?

Interesting. I made a WL in May for 2 nights in Dec and I suspect it has come through because when I was searching availability it showed a day before and a day after my 2 days as available. I saw this on Sat. My WL was still in my dashboard. I checked again on Sun and saw the same but still the WL is on my dashboard and no e-mail. I haven't looked recently...but have not got an e-mail. So maybe It's not coming through or maybe it takes them a long time to manually do it.
Edit to add: still showing as a WL on my dashboard.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was told that it doesn't process until someone comes along and manually processes it. This seems crazy to me, but that's what's going on. I don't know if it means they pull it from the system or that someone else can still take the room.

According to MS and what they told me recently:
When the waitlist matches it holds the room until they process it further (didnt ask why processing is taking so long)
When you search the RAT and see a reservation you want and click the continue button to start filling out the reservation info, the room with those dates is held for you until you finish or cancel.
When there are cancellations of a room, it runs a waitlist check for waitlists waiting for that room date/type, if no matches then is released for MS and online to see.

Happened to me about 2 weeks ago. Called to see if I could get missing night on cash and it had matched. CM confirmed it and I was all set. She mentioned it had just matched. It was a Saturday so not sure how long it would have taken to show. It would be nice if there was a timeLine. But a good point was brought up...to always check before you cancel one.

I'll add another "this happened to me" story. I waited and stalked for months to get a missing night I needed to fill in a gap in our trip this past summer. About 40 days out, I called about something else and was informed that, "Oh, it looks like your waitlist was matched. Let's put that through for you."

Yes, this happened to me a few weeks ago. For a waitlist I set up months ago. I have no clue how long it had sat there matched but not processed

I wonder why they don't just have someone assigned to process these everyday, would probably be a lot quicker that having someone call in and have the answering CM process the WL.

Maybe they are short staffed right now, with all the cutbacks.

I knew it...just got email a minute ago. My WL came through. Jambo grand villa for Dec 19 to 21. Yeah baby. But I saw it likely was coming on Sat and it took them 4 days to process. That's okay because I got it. Woo hoo!

Woohoo! So nice for you!🎊🎊🎊🎊

Well I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. I know now that I should definitely call before I change or cancel a waitlist. Or use the on line chat. I hadn’t thought about that option. I wonder what changed that the lag time has increased so much?

I guess it's probably best to always call in to cancel a WL if only to make sure it's not matched and waiting to be processed. Seems it could take a week to process.

It stopped disappearing fromt he Dashboard after a software update several months ago. It might even be approaching a year. And I really miss that. I too am learning about matches when I call in so I don't know when they are fulfilling them now.

It's always been the process of the system matching and holding the room and then it requires a CM to actually "touch" the reservation and finalize it. The thing is that we got a year or two when the software gave an indication it matched by removing it from displaying on your dashboard. Now it's back to the way it was - ie, you don't know unless you check or unless it had matched and a CM had gotten around to finalizing it.

So if you want to feel like your plans are finalized, you should call or use the chat feature every day to see if your waitlist has matched? It seems like it would eat up CM time when they have to tell you No.

Good info. I normally don’t waitlist, but have one now for one night. Surprised they actually send something out now. I’ve been watching to see if it disappeared. I do still stalk.

I believe they do have CMs assigned to this function. Have been told that they work them in the order of arrival (i.e., those with start dates of next week get worked before those with arrival dates a month from now, etc). These CMs get pulled to work phones when phones are busy, though, and lately, there have been complaints of long hold times.

Wish they'd add a software notification when a waitlist matches with a note that a confirming reservation will be ready soon.

Nice! Congratulations!

Last year, when the WL would still disappear from the Dashboard, I waited to see how long it would take to formally match. After 3 weeks I finally gave in and called to have it manually completed. :crazy2:

Then I forgot this year that it didn't disappear from the Dashboard. I wonder how many WLs I deactivated for our summer trip that might have matched and I didn't check. :(
