I think that the CP is more the culprit for Nov/Dec time frame then anything else. Last time we went during the Christmas festivity craziness, almost everyone I talked to that night while standing in line waiting to get into CP had dinner at Le Cellier - including us. Yes, the steak was good and the atmosphere was okay but my wife found it a bit claustrophic...the tables are really close (I think, but have no proof they have shoved in a couple more).
Just for the heck of it, I tried to see if there are any openings for the Sept/Oct free dining range of dates and I did hit quite a few openings. Yes most were at 3 to 4 pm, but still, you could get in.
Yes, the CP books up all TS restaurants. I tried to get in on a whim to any of them last year when I was there in Dec. Nothing was available unless you had a reservation.
With approx 3 shows a night, the early seatings start at lunch time. Good business for the restaurants, but bad for anyone else trying to get in.
As for LeCellier - it's very very very small. It probably needs to be at least double the size. IMO.
