What's with Disney reservation's computers?

I just got off the telephone with Disney reservations (WDTC). After about 30 minutes on the phone with the agent, I was not able to get any availabilities of any rooms at Disney (AP, AAA or rack rates). I inquired about availabilities at any deluxe resort, but especially Boardwalk, and she said she would check. After about 15 minutes, she said that there was something wrong and she would "re-fresh" her computer and start again. When she did that, and after about 15 minutes more of waiting, she said that I should call back another time because she just couldn't get to an area that would give her availabilities of rooms. My peeve: Disney should get an 800 #. My dime for a long-distance call to Florida - I couldn't even get info on any availabilities whatsoever- and I'm told to call back another time.

:( As I understand from other post, they just got new computers are are having great troubles with them. :(

We bought Park Hopper Passes several weeks ago at our local Disney store. The card with the passes has an 800# that you can call for reservations, PS, etc. I would post the #, but I'm sure it would be deleted. Go to the mall, look at the # on the cards!!!

:teeth:

Well I called Disney tonight and yes, their computers are down. I was going to pay off my trip. Wow,,they're not getting my money tonight. I was told that they will be up hopefully by noon tomorrow Saturday.

Disney really should have an 800 number. I have complained right to a supervisor and was told that they use a toll # because kids where calling and asking for Mickey. So they stopped the 800 number. Has anyone else heard this explanation? hmm:rolleyes:

Like a kid wouldn't call 1-407-W-Disney and ask for Mickey after hearing the commercials on TV 400 times?? :smooth:

Diva! I totally agree, and I also mentioned that. They really have no retort on that one.

Bottom line: Another way to cut costs for Disney.

I think another reason may be that if it's you who's paying for the call, then Disney doesn't feel like it has to institute "timed calling" measures for their employees, like a lot of other calling centers do. At a lot of call centers, they encourage their employees to meet a certain average time per call, to keep the costs down, and the employees can actually get into trouble if they keep exceeding that time, which leads to poor service when they're just trying to get you off the phone so they can register a short call. I'm thinking Disney didn't want this sort of thing happening, so they decided to make it so their castmembers could talk with you as long as you wanted, and you're paying for the call. Just an idea...

I always use this 800 number for Disney 1 800 421 3732. Did they do away with this 800 number when they changed over to WDWTC?

I just tried it and that number worked. Great!
:D

I just use my cell phone, then I just use up my nightime minutes (which I never seem to run out of) and don't pay any long distance charges.

Years ago, when they first changed to a the 407 number, they would let your call ring and ring until a CM was available so you didn't incur charges, but people complained about that wait so tehy started to answer and put you on hold.

It's the lack of training that the CM's have received in using them!

I guess another cutback quirk!

Scratch

I don't think it's all training, I think it's their computers. I have called twice now, and it took them so long to get to a different screen, it was ridiculous. I agree, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we are spending sooo much money on our vacations, and we can't have an 800 number. ALL major hotel chains have 800 numbers for reservations. I love Disney, but sometimes they don't always share that love.

I just called to verify some information on my room and the CM said the computers are still down and hoped they would be up by this afternoon. Hope this saves some people from calling the 407 number!!:)

I just called to try an add a night to my trip and the CM said the computers were down and I should try calling back after 1pm. She said if it was her she would probably wait until 3pm to save on long distance and there would be a better chance that the computers would actually be working by that time.

I was just able to make a change to an existing room-only (non-package) reservation. The package part was still down as of an hour and a half ago. Definitely the system upgrade, not the CMs. (The web system also went down.)

It's 1245pm CST where I am right now on Saturday. I just called because I was toying with the idea of changing to another resort. I had a very friendly and pleasant CM who said they were "hoping the system will be back up by tomorrow (Sunday) but maybe not until Monday"

YIKES!
