What's with Delta in Oct from Boston?

this is so frustrating to me with the whole delta thing...anyone got any advice for me from ct to mco????

I would stick with Delta, if that's the best flights available now, and not let the changes bother me.

if you are going from hartford you could wait for southwest and see what they have to offer. we are flying bos to mco in august and our flights have already changed once, i don't know if i want to keep checking or just live with what happens. it will drive me crazy and its months out...

I booked a flight for our July trip from Boston to Orlando just last week. I was a little discouraged at first, nothing was less than $200 with stops all over the place. We've flown Song the last couple of times and were very happy with it, but that option is gone now. We kept looking and we're flying American, non-stop both ways for $177, with taxes and fees. I'm very happy with this. Just checked and the same flight is now almost $100 more. Timing seems to be everything.....

Just checked, and YES they've changed our flight times for our May trip, once again. Now we'll be flying back at 3pm instead of at 7pm  There goes our last half day at Disney we *thought* we were going to have!! :furious: And they did reassign seats for us, but on the flight back, now we're in row 22, instead of row 5, which I much prefer. Oh well. Nothing to get too upset about, I guess, in the grand scheme of things.

Seaspray, I was switched to the 3pm flight for May also. That flight is now the last direct flight to Boston. I ended up switching to a flight with a layover in Atlanta so we don't loose that day. Things may change again though. They will be playing with the schedules until may2nd.

This is very frustrating. All dates in Nov, Dec and Jan are showing $1027. I Called and spoke to a supervisor last week and she said in not so many words that they are booking refundable tickets right now because they don't want to have to rebook if the fleet changes. Which makes sense to them but for us planners, its horrible. :rotfl2:

About switching the flights. I booked last July for Feb 06 and my flight changed numerous times, but by the time I flew if was only about 1/2 hour each way. I just checked on it once and a while. But the change from Non-stop to a lay over stinks as well as the 3 hours change especially if you want to enjoy 1 last day in the park.

If the airlines are in trouble with the fuel cost they should just surcharge the tickets. Fed ex does it and alot of my vendors do to. That way at least you pretty much know what your cost are going to be.

Cnn.com had a story yesterday about the restructing at Delta. I hope they get there act together because I live for my Winter vacations in Florida :Pinkbounc

I bought my tickets on Delta in january and the time has changes many times and the flight numbers have also changed. With each change, our assigned seats get moved from rows 5 or 6 to rows in the back of the plane, which I would hate! I g on to the Delta site frequently to make sure I still ahve my assigned seats and see what times have changed. I ahve my origina seats back ona new time and flight number on the way down (we are leaving 30 minutes earlier than original) and on the way back, I have to keep fixing my seat numbers. now the first few rows are first class and I am in rows 13 and 14 instead of the 32 and 31 they out me in.

What stinks for me is that we took two seats in each row and it looks likesomeone else has taken the aisle seat in each row i am already in. hopefully it's someone who like kids cuz our youngest will be moving around a lot if it is anything like last time. Both our kids have window seats right now. We paid $177 for non-stop and I refuse to make any stops so they better not chnage that on me or I'll be really PO'ed! I am not likely to be bringing a stroller this time around and I am not running across airports with tow kids and carry-ons in tow. It was just too much last time!

I don't expect delta to have the song prices ever again, except for flights with layovers. my first trip to disney was on delta, it was not expensive, a little more than song, but we had to layover in atlanta. with song, they were cheap, and direct, now, I think delta with go back to the way they were, cheap flights will have 1 or more layovers each way, direct flights will be expensive, looks like we will have to fly jetblue out of boston this december.
and from what I hear, most of the song planes are going to be doing the longer flights(like bos to los angeles) instead of boston to orlando, most of those are gonna be the older planes, or delta express type ones.
:rolleyes2

I called delta today for ha ha's and asked them to look up the direct flight for me from bdl to mco...the man told me 668.. After i stopped laughing he told me that the direct flights from here all will be refundable tickets only and that is why the price is sooo high...I aked why he said he really did not know but if he had to guess it would be because they really do not know what is happening with this airline.....

I just called about my Dec ressies. The flights had changed numerous times and the seats I chose were not showing up. I emailed and got a reply to call and have my seats reissued. So I did. The rep was very nice. He looked up my ressies and told me that he had seats showing and they were in fact the ones I had originally selected. So for now I guess I still do have the seats I want even if it is a different flight and slightly different, though not bad, time.

I also asked about the Song/Delta thing. I told him when I booked on Song I was looking forward to the tvs for my kids and asked if these changes meant we would not have those. He told me that the Song name was going away but not the planes and that he felt I would still be on a Song plane for this flight.

Who knows! As long as we
A. Have seats on a flight
and
B. that is close to the times we want

I guess I will just be happy and go with it!

Just checked my reservations for October and while we did have a 4 hour time change on our return flight MCO - BOS, everything seens OK for now. Fares are still showing approx $300.

Keeping fingers crossed!

BTW - what is considered a significant change in your reservation time such that you can be issued a refund?

Thanks

Technically, you're never entitled to a refund when the airline is offering you any flight on the same day. However, in general practice, anything over 4 hours is typically enough to get such a courtesy, regardless of the (major) airline. Some will do so with just a 2 hour change, and sometimes even with as little as a 1 hour change, but I would not count on such generosity.

Um, in all fairness, the airline is entitled to sell those seats and other passengers are entitled to reserve those specific seats. One way around this would be to purchase the additional seats in the row or rows one reserves. Given that most of us seek the lowest fares, this is not likely to happen. Especially if those two passengers are traveling together, you might be able to switch some seats with them - putting one adult and both children in one set of three seats and the other adult across the aisle (or in front or back of the group of three, depending on the original setup). You could have the kids take turns at the window; but it's really not fair to that passenger whom you hope likes kids to have to put up with your child moving around a lot.
While I understand you'll be irritated if your itinerary changes from its current non-stop designation, I'm not sure how you can refuse to make stops if the pilot makes 'em?

I'm not so sure it's that so much as Delta's not sure which planes it will be using for many of the current Song itineraries. I'm 100% positive the "refundable tickets only" pricing and policy will be rescinded once they determine the planes (and therefore the available seating).

This is a really good point: It is perfectly understandable to be disappointed when things don't go your way, but it is never appropriate to expect other customers to make up for your disappointment. If the disappointment was because a supplier didn't live up to a guarantee they gave you, then your recourse is with the supplier. If the disappointment was because of something you hoped would be the case, but you were not given a guarantee, then you should make up for your disappointment from your own resources.
