My DH and I returning to WDW January 5th - January 8th for an adults only trip :goodvibes :cool1: We are really looking forward to this trip - there's alot of things we want to do that we normally don't do with the girls. I have a couple of questions for those of you that travel to The World in January.

*What is the weather like? What type of clothes should we pack?

*What are the crowds like?

*Are the holiday decorations still up?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions - I appreciate it!!! :)

I was there Dec. 30-Jan. 8 and i personally thought the crowds were pretty bad. Most schools hadn't started yet so everyone was trying to get in their last few days for a vacation. The weather was perfect, well i'm from wisconsin so anything is better than 10 below in Jan! but we wore shorts and t-shirts all day and brought a sweatshirt along for the evenings, but it's also very comfortable wearing pants too. I think it was lower 70's everyday. Yes the holiday decorations were still up. If i remember correctly they were taking them down like the second week in Jan.(all the decorations look so cool). Hope this helps a little! Have a great trip!!

We were there last year from the 2nd to the 7th or 8th. The crowds were as bad as some summer months. I truly believe that's due to the marathon. The weather was nice during the day but overnight it got cold. The day we flew out it was 53! You just have to be prepared for any weather.

It can be cold so watch the weather channel prior to your trip and pack accordingly.

It can be crowded during the marathon. After that, it cools off.

Many of the holiday decorations were still up when I went, and by the second week they were taking them down. I think the Osborne Lights are scheduled through the first week of January.

We are heading for Marathon weekend number three and expect the same bigger crowds as last year. Last year they split the half and full marathons to different days opening the race up to thousands more. The 5k was also so much larger and now they have moved it to a third day. Magic Kingdom on the 3rd was as crowded as any summer day. We opted for the Universal parks after that. We are from the south and for the second year in a row we will return to school late - January 7th. This has happened in 2002 and 2006, and both trips to Disney were met with big crowds. Both times we went for the entire week. We also noted lots of European visitors there as well. They get longer holidays than we do. In 2005 we were not out that week, so we only went down for the long weekend to run. By this time last year we had a great rate on a room (DTD). This year the same rooms are almost 50% higher - so they are not having a problem filling them. Unless I HAD to go that week, I would never book a January trip until after the marathon weekend.

Thanks to all that replyed.

We are going that weekend to support our friend who is in the marathon. We were hoping the crowds would be low - thanks for telling me to think otherwise.
