What's up with the missing hearse?

I don't know if this has already been discussed or not...

When I went to Disneyland in January I noticed the hearse wasn't in front of The Haunted Mansion. I asked the CM where it was and she said, "It ran away." {It seems like she could have come up with a more Haunted Mansion-ish answer than that. Or they'd at least have a scripted answer, as people are bound to ask.} I just returned tonight from a 3 day visit and the hearse is still missing. I asked 2 different CMs about it and I was told "It's been out on a delivery for a few months now" and "It went to...do something." Does anyone know the real story?

Reports from the mouldering sanctum have said that parts of the wood frame had rotted and were in need of repair. The hearse is most likely backstage someplace, like the parade building or whatnot, being evaluated. Might be too expensive to repair, who knows. ghost carriages are fickle that way.

It's been gone since mid april, maybe earlier. I dont remember the first time I realized it was missing. Anyway, it is weird that it is gone but only because I know it is supposed to be there. If it's spendy to fix I wonder if they will or wait a while because for those first time guests it doesn't affect their ride experience at all. Hope they do bring it back eventually.

Well, it was gone the last week of January. When the CM said "It's been out on a delivery for a few months" that led me to believe that it wasn't there at all between my last week of January and last week of April trips. I really hope it isn't gone for good.

Total speculation and wishful thinking, but maybe their getting it ready for use. Like for instance, they're going to do an acutal parade instead of a calvalcade and some imagineer thought the wagon would be a good prop to roll down main street, maybe Jack and Sally are going to drive it and have Zero pull it, or maybe Ooggie Boogie pull it.

That would be OUTSTANDING and would require months to adapt it so I for one hope that speculation is spot on!
