What's up with the "Jelly Bracelet" thing...

I have asked my daughter and niece both 17, recently about those bracelets (of which, both of them wear tons in many different colours)

They had both heard of those "rules" of the bracelets but said that they weren't looked on that way in their school.

A notice from dd's elementary school was sent out about 6 months ago informing parents of the sexual meaning of these bracelets and banned them from the school.

Can somebody post a pic of these "jelly bracelets"? Are these the "tatoo bracelets" of a couple of years ago? I can't for the life of me figure out what a Jelly Bracelet is.

Thanks!

Call me clueless:o !

How do you upload a picture and then type over the website address with your own words?

The girls in our middle school wear them as a fashion statement, although now when they do everyone comments on what the color means.

OH MY GOODNESS......

I just found a website that tells what each color means. I don't think I could post that info on these boards - but its bad real bad!!!

My son's school mailed out letters about this last month. My son told me that some of the girls in the 6th and 7th grades were wearing them.

I don't think it's a good school, bad school, or good community bad community thing. There are some trends that cross social lines. I think (HOPE) most kids are wearing the bracelets because they are in right now.

Yet ANOTHER reason to Homeschool my DD's!

At my kids MS and HS, the bracelets are worn by both boys and girls as a trend, not with any hidden meaning or innuendo! That may not be the case at every school, but don't assume there is an underlying meaning, because I think it varies from school to school. Holy cow!!!!!!! I am astonished at some of the things these bracelets represent! Imagine flaunting something like that?!?!?

Um, wow, I'm speechless.

Oh, great! :(

I just bought some to go with a new outfit because the colors were perfect.

I'm glad I saw the thread before I got snickers in public. (I'm quite sure that this 50+ year old lady won't be getting any offers, though!).

I need to come up with a flashy comeback for the quick looks when I wear them.

according to my niece they only do "nice" things in her middle school like hold hands, hug etc when a bracelet is broken. Personally I wish my sis would not let her wear them to school since they are playing a "game" with them. However DSis thinks it is just "harmless fun"

I asked DD (she's in 7th grade) if she knew what they meant. She told me yes  but said it was over at her school. That was going around months ago. She hasn't been wearing hers for awhile.

Though she did give me 8 of the black bracelets so I would remember to drink my water. lol not sure that I am going to wear them now

My teen daughters reaction to hearing this? Yeah we've heard about that, from adults asking us if they mean anything.. no one uses that code in their school....

My step daugher is in jr hgh and says shes never heard anything of the sort.

Haven't heard of that up here in Canada. I asked my teens and they thought it was hilarious. Have any other Canadians heard this?

What does it mean if a boy is wearing it?

There was a news clip on this evening local news about them. A couple of school boards have banned them. Did not know about them until I saw them on the news.

I just showed my 13yo the snopes "article." She said she had never heard of this. Her school is pretty strict about things like this. I am surprised that they have not been banned.
