what's up with the indiana Jones ride now?

Shoot, I hope Indy will be up and running next month b/c that is the one ride I haven't gotten a chance to ride yet. The last time we went to DL was Christmas day 1998 and the lines were beyond belief. Here's to hoping!!

I was about to say...

If that is the case, and the walls have stopped rotating, then they may have very well done that for budget cuts.

Possibly? The last time we rode Indy was October (we didn't go on it in December) and it did this. The door on the far left was already open and you could already see inside the room.

So I have a question.

So the way the ride is supposed to work is you board your jeep, it enters the show building and it comes to a stop. There are 3 doors and your jeep goes into 1 door. Each door is supposed to reveal a different room (fountain of youth, something about riches, and I think the other one is knowing the future? I'm not sure, correct me on that one). The way the ride works is that it's one track that you are always on, but the doors rotate making it appear that you have entered a new door each time. The way they change the appearance of each room (to make it be the room of fountain of youth, etc) is by changing the lights. So here's my question. Now that the doors are NOT rotating, are the lights still changing to make it a different room each time? Or is it just staying the same since the door isn't closing to begin with?

Oh wow. Did any of that make sense? :confused3

A lady I work with just told me how when she was on it....on FRIDAY....their hydrolics broke when they were on the bridge....so the lights came on and these bars came up super fast around the bridge so no one could fall and they had to walk off of the ride. She said with the lights on it was interesting and nothing to really look at!! There was a lady who had never been on it and was bummed to see the boulder, etc!

The doors are supposed to move/rotate?! Never did that the two times I was there and the multiple times we rode it (although we got lucky and it wasn't broken whenever we went to ride)

Who knew? :confused3

Time for refurb, eh?

I’d always love to get evacuated from that ride. The track just baffles me and even though I’ve seen pictures of the track layout, it still some what confuses me.

Yeah! There’s an awesome link to a website that I have at home that shows how it works. The room and the track stay the same and in place, but the 3 doors rotate. So it appears you’re either entering door #1, #2 or #3 each time.

From what I remember when it still worked, was there was one track, but three doors side by side with a light focused on whatever on you would go through, then when the next jeep came along, the doors slid to the left or right to show a new door/"new room". It hasn't done that for a long time.

Wow that surprises me, its never been broken down when Ive been there! infact no ride has ever broken down while I was on it. We rode Indi at least 4 times last December, and got all three rooms and had no problems. Hopefully I will have the same good luck this april!

Though there are some things that could be fixed, I am a huge Indy fan and it has been my favorite ride for so many years. WOOHOO GO INDY!!!

There's two things that bother me about Indie, one when you stop in front of the bridge I've missed out on seeing the jeep on the opposite side flashing their high beams. In fact, every time I've been on it, there was never a jeep there.

OH and I never got the big rush of fire either. It disappoints me!

I miss those too! When we were there last year the ride broke down all 3 times we tried to go on it! Once we had to walk off the ride. It is still one of my favorites.

I was there in January and we had all 3 rooms. Maybe it's a time of year or busy/slow time of the year issue?

Yes, this is how it's supposed to work but the rooms change appearance more than just the lighting....look at the ceiling, in one room there are stars, look at the paintings on the walls, they are different depending on which room you go into as well.

We had both of these our last 2 trips. :)

Indy is our family fave, we get FP for it first and we try to get more than 1 set of FPs for Indy so we can ride it twice a day. We LOVE Indy!!!!!! We rode it over Presidents weekend and it did break down once on us, we were right after the first Indy, where he says to go to the left, we stopped in the next room and the lights came up. A few minutes later 2 CMs walked by and said to stay seated and the ride would be working again shortly, we waited about 10 min. I think. We did notice that the last trip we went thru the future door every time.......that kinda irked us but it's the luck of the draw really. When we go back next week we will ride it again (more than once) and hopefully it will be rotating the rooms again. :)

I do agree that Indy needs to go down for a realllllllly looooong refurb because it's always breaking down or having issues.

Oh and the idols eyes flash light in some rooms but in others they just smoke.....or at least 1 of them does. lol

Just a quick edit.....because we were on the ride when it shut down when we got to the end the CM's said "do you want to go again?" and everyone on our car said "YES!!!!!" so we went again! :) Well worth breaking down for a bit to get to ride it twice in a row. :)

If I'm remembering correctly, Indy has yet to actually go through a serious refurb (as in it hasn't been really touched since it opened). When it first opened, the ride was constantly breaking down and having to be tweaked, which is probably why it's held it together so well and not needed to be completely shut down over the past decade. It should have gone down for a refurb before last summer when they were busy getting ready for the Summer of Mysteries. That alone probably sent it into overdrive, forcing Disney to use every car that they could possibly squeeze onto the track at a time without putting anyone at a major risk. Maybe now that things have calmed down a bit with the Indy frenzy and the YOMD is over, they can shut it down for a few weeks.

I doubt Harrison Ford will go back on his word to not to V.O.s for the ride since it's a matter of principle (I wouldn't either if I were him). However, I would like to see them redo the Indys' faces to look more like him (they did a better job with Johnny and Jack, so it's clear that technology in that area has improved) and it would be cool if they stuck a glowing crystal skull with some of the mummies (a veiled reference to Indy 4, nothing overt because it wasn't a great movie overall IMO).

We were just there (Fri-Mon) and we DID get the Jeep just across from us on the bridge flashing their lights at us. It was cool!

But ya, the far left door was just open and that's the one we went through each time.
