What's up with Girls NOT SHAVING???

I go to this restaurant quite a bit, they have great pizza and calzones few other things, but its also a bar, and they have bands. The workers there kind of look like what you would expect from a biker bar, lots of tats, lots of piercings etc., which none of that bothers me at all, and generally I'm OK with if you want to dress differently or what not, because I certainly did when I was young. But now quite a few of the girls have gone totally, I'm not sure what its called, organic, earthy, whatever, but point is they don't shave anything. And they are wearing tank tops and shorts, and I just don't get this.

Do these girls think this is "cool?" :confused3 What is the deal with this? It completely and totally grosses me out. I mean I would never say anything to them, and its certainly a free society to where you can do that if you want, but its certainly NOT ATTRACTIVE AT ALL, to me anyway. Anyone else see some of this, and what are your thoughts?

Clearly you haven't visited Eastern Europe in awhile! :lmao:

To each his own. IMO, as long as she's clean, she's just as entitled to not shave as any man. Why should the girl have to be attractive *to you* anyway?

Edited to add: Me, I'd like to be waited on by nothing but handsome young men in short-shorts, but sadly, I have to be content with prompt, professional service and a friendly smile.

I would also be interested to hear thoughts on this from any Lesbians. From what I know, Lesbians usually prefer women like most men do (shaved and groomed), but I could be wrong. Any Lesbian opinions on this?

ROFL at the word 'lesbian' capitalized. :rotfl:

I prefer to shave and feel smooth. I think it is unattractive to see armpit hair. What's worse? Seeing a moustache on women. Nowadays that can so easily be taken care of with laser.

I shave every day. Hubby or no hubby. My legs feel gross if I don't. Personally, I don't understand not shaving.

BTW, I am not offended by the OP wanting ot know if lesbians think differently that heterosexuals. To me it is no different than europeans and their customs of not shaving as much as we do, at least that is what I have noticed.

Some people get way to offended.

Also, shaving is not being vain. It is taking care of yourself.

She said women who didn't shave walked around looking like ugly men. Good enough?

Women shouldn't wear skirts or shorts walking around with Big Foot legs. It's one thing if you choose not to shave and then wear pants, but you are setting yourself up for someone to go ewww with shorts and big dark hairy legs. Or wearing a bathing suit or tank top and going Julia Roberts photo where she had a hair troll sticking out of her underarm.

And the same for men: years ago: It was summer time and I was at my friends. We were walking down the street and saw this guy we knew. We had met him in winter when he was fully clothed. So we are thinking as we so him from afar" wow it's too hot to wear a black long sleeve shirt today. As we got closer,he wasn't wearing a shirt:scared1: He was a walking Chewbaca. and he was stinky, it was like when he wore a shirt it somehow kept the funk sweaty hair in.

I shave every 3 or so days. The hair on my head is red, but the hair on my body is light blonde/unnoticeable.. so it isn't a big deal unless I let it grow for weeks. If I had noticeable hair, I think I'd shave daily. And I do shave just about my entire body, besides my face.

To me part of vanity is judging other people based solely on appearances. Maybe I'm looking for a more specific word and I just can't think of it right now.

Superficial?

It would be nice if we could accept people for who they are instead of what we think they should be

I remember growing up my mom saying that good looks are only good for the first 15 minutes. After that you're on your own. And she was right. When. I first meet someone I notice what they look like but within a few minutes I'm focusing on WHO they are.

My preference, for myself, is to shave legs, etc., regularly.

I have a little bit of hair that grows just above my upper lip, and I have that waxed regularly, along with eyebrow waxing.

I have it done when I go to the hair salon, which is probably every 8 weeks or so (or sometimes longer than 8 weeks).

I HATE when they rip off that little piece of cloth that sticks to the wax that rips the hair out, OMGosh that hurts. Only hurts for an instant, but it HURTS, lol.

To be honest, I don't think anyone but me notices that bit of hair above the lip, but it bugs me, so I have it done.:headache:

Btw, I don't think you can ask what lesbians prefer any more than you can ask what redheads prefer. I'm sure they, like heterosexuals, prefer different things.

I wasn't that long ago when no one shaved their body hair. I remember reading "Nana" by Emile Zola and in the first chapter he describes this amazing beautiful woman:

It was Venus rising from the waves with no veil save her tresses. And when Nana lifted her arms the golden hairs in her armpits were observable in the glare of the footlights. There was no applause. Nobody laughed any more. The men strained forward with serious faces, sharp features, mouths irritated and parched. A wind seemed to have passed, a soft, soft wind, laden with a secret menace. Suddenly in the bouncing child the woman stood discovered, a woman full of restless suggestion, who brought with her the delirium of sex and opened the gates of the unknown world of desire.

Doesn't seem like the men in that passage found underarm hair unattractive.

I guess I'll just continue to live in my world where I'm blissfully ignorant of how other people look because I just really don't care.

I personally don't care if a woman (or a man for that matter) shaves themselves. I see nothing wrong in a person being "au naturale" when it comes to body hair.

People should do what makes them happy in this instance...what makes ME happy is shaving. :) I don't keep my legs 100% shaved, especially in winter, but if I'm wearing shorts, a skirt or dress or a bathing suit heck ya I'm shaved! LOL And I shave my pits every couple of days. For me, not shaving is a turn off, now I don't mean beards, mustaches, etc etc (altho I don't get the appeal of a soul patch), I mean pits mostly......I really do not like pit hair at all, luckily DBF has little to none so it's not a big deal but it still skeeves me out sometimes when I see it. LOL :)

I don't shave as much during the winter. But come shorts weather, I shave my legs a LOT more often. And try to keep the pits shaved too.

I don't care to see unshaven legs or pits on women. Not so on men. And men, no scraggly beards. Either grow one or shave.

Ok, well, just like heterosexuals, we homosexuals have many different preferences. We aren't one homogeneous group.

Some lesbians prefer their partners to pattern their grooming in the masculine fashion, and some do not.

Some, like myself, don't care. I don't pick my partners based on how much leg hair they have and I don't find whether or not someone removes their body hair to be a good judge of a person's hygiene.

It's not really taking care of yourself, it's merely following a social norm. :confused3

It's one I follow, as well, but it doesn't offend me if other people don't.

Also, shaving is not being vain. It is taking care of yourself.

Uh, no. Eating your fruits and veggies, getting enough sleep and exercise are taking care of yourself. Scraping hair off your skin is done only for looks. Now, you, personally may "feel" better after doing it but that doesn't mean everyone does.:confused3 I've gone for years without shaving and I have gone years with shaving every day. Most of the time no one ever noticed either way. Now I only shave for a particular occasion or in the summer. I hate the way stubble feels and I would never have the time/energy/inspiration to do it daily. And, to be honest, I find the whole idea of "manscaping" positively revolting but I would never not order pizza from the guy.:rotfl2: Live and let live.

Whaaat?
First, this is not a gay issue; certainly not any more than it's an issue for hetero people, liberals, conservatives, musicians, librarians... why pick Lesbians?
Second, who cares if a woman shaves or not. I know lots of women who don't. I know men who like it. You think you are the only one to know what's normal, gross, clean, good looking? You are not. To set your belliefs or ideals up as the standard...not cool and not fair. The world is full of all kinds of people, all kinds of cultures and all kinds of mores. Keep your own, let others live their lives as they wish. These people are not morally corupt because they have body hair. Good grief!:sad1:

This! Shaving is not the norm in many places in the world.

I like to shave but not everyone does. I think there are a large group of women who see not shaving as more natural and feminist. There are women who feel that wearing makeup, shaving legs or wearing bras is like being in chains imposed on them by some social ideal of what a woman is supposed to look like. I can kind of see their point and can't blame them for wanting to shake things up and do their own thing. At the same time I guess I'm brainwashed enough by society to keep shaving and wearing a bra. Kudos to those who have the courage to express their individuality in the way they prefer.
