What's up with disney dining?

I called disney dining last week to make priority seating for Ariel's for this coming week. Was told that there was absolutely no seating available for any of the days I asked (Mon., Tues., Wed.), even though I said I'd take any seating time. I called back yesterday and asked again and was given multiple seating times on each day to chose from.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion. I find it highly annoying and don't understand how one CM can say there is absolutely no seating, and yet another CM finds tons of available. Seems like they'd be possibly losing out on business when they are turning people away like that even with seating available. Not everyone would know to try again like I have. It was only by chance that I tried a year or so ago a second time b/c I just couldn't believe there was no seating for a Wed. during off-season, and I was right. Disney needs to do something about this. I don't know if it's a problem with certain CM's or their system or what. :confused3

Anyway, if you get told there is no seating.. I'd suggest calling another day/time. Chances are you'll get a different CM who will give you a different story.

This has happened to me not only with Disneyland's dining but with WDW's too. So I have learned to call back too. I also always call just before the trip to confirm all my ps' and it paid off since when I called last summer about a week before our trip and confirmed everything, the could not find our Minnie breakfast listed. She finally found it but it was for a week later, long after we were gone. She fixed it but I didn't get the time I wanted and had already had which was aggravating. I wish Disneyland's dining would give confirmation numbers. I do always get the name of the person I make the ps with and the date and time I made it. Probably doesn't do much good but I always figure if they have to give out their name they might be a bit more likely to make sure they do it right.

This happened to us 2 years ago, just called back and later confirmed prior to leaving for the park.

I've experienced the same thing a few times but there have been times when a CM was able to squeeze me in if I was dining alone. I've spoken to some CM's who are really snooty too and just say: "We're booked" in a really curt voice. Not sure why one CM will say they are completely booked and another will say there is availability.....maybe they receive cancellations? :confused3

I had this problem too but they said it was cause there were people who backed out so there was available seating. I mean I thought that was logical but maybe im wrong :confused3

Also ALWAY confirm your reservations because I called back to confirm and they said they didnt have my seats. I complained and so they got me in on the exact day and time I wanted.

I had another experience a few years back. We made dinner resies for carnation cafe for 6pm. When we were on our way to dinner, we found out that they weren't even open for dinner. We were so bummed. I wish Disney Dining was aware of the open times. It seems they need a better system.

:scratchin

We have (knock on wood) never had this problem but thanks for the heads up. I will call and check our reservations a few weeks in advance.

I do try to be polite and cancel if I know I am not going to make it to a PS. Disney Dining # is programmed into my cell phone, and I call so that they aren't holding a table for me that someone else is standing waiting for! So this may have been the case of what happened here also.

No, I'd think that too if it wasn't for the fact that it was only 2 days later that I called and all the sudden there are tons of open times for all 3 days. No way did that many people cancel in those two days, kwim?

I do the same if I am unable to make it. I have Disney Dining in my cell phone too- it's a must have! :beach:

Hi there,
Not sure is this is correct or not. But I was told that if you are staying onsite at one of the hotels, that they will save some tables at restaurants for the onsite guests to reserve. Maybe that's where the discrepancy is......

Not sure though!

I always get confirmation numbers for WDW dining. I usually have a small index card with each days PS Conf #'s on it so if I need it I have it.

Yes I always take my WDW confirmations #'s with me. Then I have my resort print them out. I also sometimes put them on my voice mail so I can call and get them easily. I am that paranoid! Partly because DL's has screwed mine up on more than one occasion so it makes me think WDW might do the same! Which is why I wish they would do the confirmation numbers too.

Great! One more thing to pannic about ! I found this last ressie I made the woman was just not nice. Last year we used Chad Adams and he e-mailed me menus, made suggestions, and e-malied me a list of all my ressies. Maybe I should e-mail him to confirm mine for next week.

and I thought I was a disney addict - time to program in those numbers!!

ok I am now confirmed! I feel so much better now , anything else to freak me out about that can go wrong :confused3 anyone???

Pardon me for interjecting, but what is "Chad Adams?"

I just googled it, clicked on the first hit and well, let me say that I had a bit of a surprise. :scared1:

I am sure the Chad that I found was not the same one mentioned on this thread - I have a feeling there were services offered on that site that would not make these family boards...
