As I sit at home dreaming of my next Disney World trip, I keep thinking of that happy place. So I pick up my phone, open up My Disney Experience app and wondering what the wait times are and then it hits me… OMG! WOW! WTH! A three hour wait for Space Mountain, almost 3.5 hour wait for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, almost 3 hours for both Splash and Big Thunder and heck even an 85 minute wait for It’s a Small World.

I start asking myself; who in their rightful mind would want to go there? This surely can’t be the happiest place on earth. I mean, how could this be the happiest place on earth? You stand 3 hours in a never ending long winding line for a 3-5 minute ride. How can this be fun? Hypothetically speaking, if a family of 4 purchases a 4 day theme park ticket at a cost of approx. $80 per person per day and this family spends 8 hours in a theme park on average that means it cost them approx. $30 each to wait in line and about a dollar to actually ride the ride.

I know what most of you are thinking… Its spring break, Easter weekend so the parks are busier and I get that. Also, some may think that a good plan like rope drop and Fastpass+ will help that. Often enough I hear from people saying I’m on vacation so I don’t want to wake up early or what the hell is a Fastpass+? With new lands and hotels opening up at Disney, I think the busier times will no longer be during spring break, summer or the holidays, it will be year round.

So I keep asking myself, will I ever want to go back to experience long wait times, huge crowds and very little time actually having fun at the happiest place on earth. Well the answer is: YES. No doubt that Disney will keep increasing prices at their hotels, dining venues, theme parks, merchandise and everything else under the sun, but like most everyone else, I will keep going no matter what.

What do you think Disney can or should do about it? Should they have vacation plans whereas they schedule your entire day based of what you want? Do they open up their parks 24 hours a day to alleviate the crowds? Let me know your thoughts!

Well first of all, since it’s always crowded now, they need to stay open late all year round and run all of the ride vehicles. They also need more CMs to cope with these crowds, so they’re not so overwhelmed and that should help bring back some of the lost CM “magic”. Just my opinion.

They seem to be shifting to a “schedule everything in advance” plan. They are giving out so many fastpasses and the standby waits are so long that they are pushing people to only ride with fastpasses- so forcing them to ride on a schedule. I’m fine with that. It’s kind of fun to have that random surprise for the 4th and after fastpasses.

Worked with us. The only thing we did at Epcot yesterday without a fastpass was El Rio Del Tiempo. At MK, the only things we did without fastpasses were attractions that don’t have fastpasses.

They will also keep raising prices. I’ve been hearing a lot of complaining in the parks that Disney’s prices are so high and the add on experiences like tours and dessert parties are increasing so much that only rich people can enjoy it. Well, there must be a lot of rich people in the world because everything is packed. Demand is going to keep pushing cost skyward.

Didn't WDW have a massive staff reduction about 2 years ago?
