We are going to be at CR in a little over a month and I am trying to find out what is happening with the food & fun center. Is the dining area closed yet? Have the opened the "temporary location"? What is available there? Do they still have a refillable mug station?

yes the temporary location is open. don't know about the mugs - but I would assume so.

Just got back sat. from CR and the "fun" part of the food & fun center was closed.

They were selling mugs at the food center. The only refill station I saw was at the food center.

The Arcade has moved from the first floor (Food and Fun Center) to the 4th Floor. The Food part of the Food and Fun Center will close in July to be converted to a new table service restaurant. Beginning July 30, 2007, a temporary quick service restaurant called Tempo Grab and Go will operate near the Outer Rim lounge on the 4th Floor. It will be open through August 14, 2008. The new table service location will be called The Wave, and is tentatively set to open in late March or April 2008. Once The Wave opens, the Concourse Steakhouse will close and a new, permanent quick service restaurant will be constructed in that space, set to debut in mid-August 2008. (This from wdwig.com)

Here is the complete schedule of renovations for the Contemporary.

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

Cookie Princess, there is a chance the temporary counter service location might not sell the mugs because that is what happened with the temporary counter service locations at the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge. However back in January 2000 when the Food & Fun Center was closed for a minor renovation, the mugs were being sold at the Contemporary Sand Bar. So who knows they might be doing that again, however there is also the chance they might not do it.

DisneyWorldDad, can you please tell me how did the lobby renovation looked. I would have thought by now someone would have posted pictures of it, so since you were just there can describe what it was like?
