Hi! I was just wondering what there is to do with kids in Key West? Some of the tours don't look interesting for a 3 and 6 y/o. I was thinking of haning out on the ship for a while, let them swim and then put them in the kid's club early afternoon. My husband and I could go explore, come back and get them, explore with them for about 2 hours and head back for dinner. Just hate to do this the very first day of the cruise but they might not mind at all! Just wondering what others have done.

There is a very small, cute aquarium in Key West that is great for young ones.

we brought our daughters to the aquarium and then to the mel fisher museum. After that we walked around abit and then proceded to mallory square for sunset activities. From there it was kids club and sloppy joes for us.

We booked the DCL excursion that included the trolley tour, aquarium and the shipwreck museum. My two sons (2 and 5) enjoyed the day!

we did the trolley tour on our own. You can print a discount coupon from their web site. Our DD was 10 then, and disney charged adult prices for kids 10 and older. The trolley company had kids prices up to 12.

Other than that, we just walked around. They enjoyed seeing the different kinds of things, but the trolley really made it special.

I took my son by cab down to Higgs beach? I went on-line to a key west web site and looked up beaches. This was a very kid friendly beach with a fenced in playground for him to play in, a nice pier to walk out on and see the fish. There is a little pub there that sold ice cream and drinks and a bathroom. We then went to the aquarium. You can also see the aquarium on the web site that I checked out and see them feed the fish through their web-cam. My son got to pet a shark. We loved it and it was an inexpensive day.

Sorry to say my DD, age 8, spent the entire day at the Oceaneers Lab. She did not want to get off the ship. In fact that's where she spent each and every day.

Hello there
This is Shirley and as almost everyone knows, I was born and raised in Key West - unfortunalty there is very little for children to do - it is geared mostly for adult entertainments - the aquarium is nice and so it Mel Fisher - the playground that was spoken about is called Astro City and it is located at Clarence Higgs Beach at then end of White Street (East) - I understand the Butterfly musumn has now opened up and it is located at the South end of Duval Street - I haven't had the time to check it out - the conch train - well I myself like it for it takes me to all the places that I am so familiar with - I love to hear the stories that are told also on the history of Key West - sometimes they are correct and sometimes, I wonder if it is Key West they are speaking about -
Also there are interesting shops right there at Mallory Square - now if you go shopping stay away from a "Tee" shop located at the corner of Duval and Flemming - they ripped me off and I am a conch and should have known better - I will be down there this next coming weekend - if anyone wants me to check something out - just drop me an email at snelsonbrown@aol.com
Always
Shirley

We go to Key West yearly (Mom has a timeshare) and my 3 year old DD loves the aquarium and the trolley. I would do that early then sign her in to the club and do the "Duval Crawl" and then see the sunset celebration. The sunset can be very romantic.

Hi Kargaroodle. You might want to look into Jungle Tours. Shirley at A Perfect Gift may have more information/insight into the tour. It appears to be age appropriate for your 6-year old and looks like a lot of fun. Perhaps DH could take one child and you the other - just a thought...

We walked around for a bit then rented an electric car. After about 2 hours of Key West our DD, who was 5, wanted to go bakc to the ship to play with the other kids at the Oceanears Club. She loved the electric car but missed her new freinds.

If you like Key Lime Pie try a Pie-Pop from Blond Giraffe on Duval Street.
