What's the worst Xmas Pressie you have ever received??

Actually I did think of one - my DH's Nan always buys naff pressies, and 2 years, she got me, and DH's 2 Sisters some fleecy pj's (trousers and a a zip up jacket type thing).

The trousers only fit DH's youngest sister who was about a size 8-10 at the time.
Me and DH's older sister couldn't fit into them (not that I would have worn them anyway but I tried it on for a laugh! :rotfl: )

The jacket did fit, and I wear it when I am gardening in the winter.

We once got an empty envelope from DMIL, she usually gave us money and as we were skint we were really looking forward to it!
We think her neighbours got the cash by accident, anyway they thanked her very warmly that year for her Christmas card :(

Similar thing happened to us for our Wedding actually.

One of DH's friends gave us a wedding card, but it was one of those cards with the slots in for money or a voucher to slot into but there was no money or voucher.

When we were writing our 'thank you's', DH had to ask his mate if there was supposed to be any money/vouchers in the card as we wanted to send him a thank you note, and he said no, it was just a card.

So he must have ran in and picked the card very quickly not realising it was a voucher type card.

It was embarrassing for DH to ask him!!

In December of 1998 my MIL bought me a.......fan.......because and I quote "I was fed up with you borrowing mine". I hasten to add that when I borrowed it (once) in the summer I was 8 months pregnant and flamin' hot!!

lol, some one did that to me last xmas - they bought me a size 8 top and i just looked at it and thought there is no way im getting in that!!

My wife got a blue sequined blouse from my mother a few years back

It was bloody awful!

My wife said: "I thought your mother liked me!"

I was at a complete loss. We kept it in a box in the basement for a year or so, and then donated it (and the awful maroon shirt that I got at the same time) to a local charity.

Socks/underwear and personal hygiene products. What was that person trying to tell me?

I got a pair of slippers, but they were both for the left foot.... :earseek:

When DH and I were just engaged he bought me a navy blue track suit - the type that would have looked great on a footballer. I made him take it back and now give him strict instructions at Xmas and for birthdays.

A few years ago my mum bought me only one present: a frying pan. This was the first year of my sister and me not getting lots of presents "from Santa" (as it was the first year after I officially moved out) and it felt very strange indeed - Christmas was a bit weird that year. I wouldn't say it was a bad present because we needed a good frying pan, but I'll always remember it being quite strange!

Every year since we were quite young my sister has got a 10kg sack of bird seed wrapped up "from Santa" (even these days). She loves it and it wouldn't be Christmas without it! :rotfl:

My grandad had this habit of buying you a present which you would have really loved, had it been 5 or 10 years earlier!! He bought my ex hippy dad a poncho as he used to wear them, of course it was about 1987 by this point!

The best one for me was a book. When I was a toddler my mum and dad used to take me to see steam trains at the weekend (my dad was a trainspotter.) So what do I get when I'm 10 and really into Barbie etc? The Big Book of Trains!! It was donated to charity quite rapidly! At least he didn't buy me hideous clothes that year which I then had to wear at least once (usually to his Boxing Day party.)
