What's the Truth?

The last few days there have been some convos's between CM's and guests and there have been varying degrees of what is said. It seems sometimes you get very specific info about when discounts will be released and then you get another CM that will say they are not privy to that information until it is released. The one conversation yesterday leaned heavily to discounts being released today and then there was another one for October 10th. A CM told me this morning when I was checking for a PIN that they know nothing.

So...what gives? Do they or don't they know? Do you wonder if the CM's are just playing with our minds? It is getting annoying, to say the least.

Close to whatever announcement (if any) travel agents will get a heads up and that's when the leaks and such really gather steam... usually within 24 hours of the actual offer being released.

That's the truth. Problem is, nobody wants to hear that.

Everyone wants to hear it's happening tomorrow and it's FREE DINING in January. Certainly that's what *I* want to hear for a tentative trip in January.

But.. alas, I await just like everyone else, for the official word.

I agree! The second castmember that I spoke to said that the first castmember should not have told me anything about the "new promotion" because it's not been announced. She also said that he could get in "lots of trouble" for giving out the information. She said that the phone calls are recorded and she would get guest services to listen while I held. When she came back, she confirmed that the castmember had, indeed, given me the information but that I'd have to call back when it was released to the public. It was only after I asked what date that would be that she put me on hold so that she could ask Guest Services' permission to tell me.

Like you, I'm hopeful but will anxiously await the official word.

Its like Guest Services is Disney's version of the FBI/CIA. Top secret stuff!!

Yes, the date that the second castmember came back with "permission" to tell me was October 10th. I asked if it would cover my travel dates, May 22nd to June 1st, and she said yes which is the same thing that the first castmember told me.

The October 10th day is interesting. There is a blog link in the free dining thread over in the dining section. The blog is in Spanish but if you translate it, there is a strong rumor that on October 10th, Disney will release a promotion that adults dine for kid price Jan-march. Interesting.

I believe the cost of the standard dining plan is approximately $55 for adults and $17 for kids 9 and under.

We're on the DxDP...I'm assuming that cost is per day?? This may not be so bad. Although FD is always better. The 10th seems so far away!!

Which dining plan are they referring to, though? If the discount is only for quick service it won't be that great of a deal for us. There is no way I could survive on counter service meals for 2 weeks!
