What's the tag fairy?

Do they only tag you if you have't changed the words? What I mean is, does mine have to say 'DIS Veteran' (that is what it'd be) in order for them to tag? And....if that is case, can I still change mine back to say 'Dis Veteran'? Or is it too late...?
