My friend is looking to move into a bigger house, something just an average size though, and asked me about what size they should look for. I thought about it and realized I'm not really sure what an 'average' size house is, so maybe you guys could help me out. What size is your house?

Our townhouse is 1932 square feet. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and is tri-level.

Current house: 1,450 sq. ft.

New house (being built now): just under 2,700 sq. ft.

ours is 1700 square feet.

I would really like about 2500 though :)

3,500 with a full, walkup attic that is not finished. Rock on... storage space! If finished, the attic would add another 1400 sq. ft.

1000 main floor - added 500sq ft upstairs (DSs bedroom, game room & bathroom) Also finished off 3/4 of the basement so that would add another 750
2250 total - kitchen, 3 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, game room, family room, den, dining room, living room

Let's see....2053sq ft. Kitchen, Living Room, Dining room, 2.5 baths, 4 bedrooms...

1600 sq. ft - 3 bedroom, 2 bath, one-level

We built our home 3 years ago. It's about 4400 sq ft. It's alot for the three of us, but we love the space!:)

The six of us are in 2400 sq ft - four bedroom 2-1/2 bath and we're pretty comfortable. I don't think you can ever have too much space though!

ours will be 2430 sq feet when it's built!

ours is 4500 square feet and there's one thing I've learned....there is NEVER enough space. No matter how big your house is, your 'stuff' will expand like a gas to fill whatever space is available. When we first moved into our house I loved having all that room and I couldn't imagine that we'd ever fill it up, but somehow we have. We really should get rid of some of the 'junk', but once we do, the things we have will just reproduce to fill the vacated areas, so why bother? :p

about 1600 sq ft.

I could use a little more space since there are five of us in the house.

But, I saw an upcoming special with Michael Palin. He is speaking to a woman somewhere, cannot remember where. At any rate, he asked her why she is always smiling and happy. She said it was because of her beautiful house.
I am not sure if it was the one made out of odds and ends with something like a sheet covering the door, or the one made out of old BP oil drums.

So, I have decided to quit asking for a bigger house.

We have three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a partial basement, and a laundry room, with an all white kitchen.

I can't complain, we are pretty comfortable!

Unfortunately we're in a 950 sq ft apartment. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, dining, kitchen and pantry. It's way too little for us. Hopefully this time next year we'll be in a house.

3000 sq ft. 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths. Plenty of room for our family of three (and our two fat cats....).

1400 sq feet, this doesn't include the basement we are finishing. This is just right for us, I don't want anymore house to clean;) Give me a cleaning lady and you can add all the space you want.

Just 800! But we are planning on doubling that at least soon!
