8000 sq. ft.???

I wouldn't want it!
I don't remember how big our apartment was, but it had a storage unit and wonderful closets.
Our first house was around 1300 square feet and not very well laid out at all. It had a total of three closets in the whole house and the kitchen really only had room for one of us at a time. It was an adventure, though: I knew exactly what combination would blow a fuse.

Example: Microwave and vacuum cleaner together was fine, but adding the telephone ringing and "poof." And I fell down the steep stairs more than once.
Our current house is just under 2000 square feet. It's fine for the five of us. I don't think I'd want anything bigger because I have a hard time keeping this clean. It has great closets and a HUGE kitchen!

I didn't want a house with a three-car garage, but now I wish we either had that or a building out back for all the bikes, trikes, toys, sports equipment, etc., etc., that we try to cram in the two-car garage. I feel very, very lucky to live here with this house and this neighborhood.
