What's the most you've spent on a purse?

Just a little non-scientific poll. I'm curious as to what most women would consider excessive in this department, and what is considered a good price. And no need to qualify yourself with the "If you feel okay with it..." lines...I want to know your true opinion in honest terms.

For me, I spent $70 on a nice leather Franco Sarto hobo style bag today, which was half off. I'll probably be using it for a very long time, and it should last quite a few years, so that helped me justify it. Plus I was using a gift card. This is the most I've ever spent. I might spend more, if I really loved the bag. But I think anything above $250 is excessive. And a bag from $150-$250 would have to be incredible for me to buy it. A friend of mine just dropped $500 on a Coach bag with fish all over it...I think it is tacky as he-l-l and wouldn't have bought it for $1.

Yesterday, for my own curiosity, I checked to see what Louis Vuittons go for. Now that is ridiculous.

Just my opinion, I would like to hear yours on the subject!

I don't know--sometimes I wish I could spend more on a purse--but I'm afraid that what once looked nice would turn out to be ugly. .

Max I spend between the $20-$30 range. My last two purses were $4.97 each on clearance from Old Navy.

I got a whole bunch for free when my mil passed on. They were new good purses and she had incredible taste.

Before that, I think maybe $30 was the most I had paid.

I don't think I have paid anymore that 50.00 or so.

I have some friends who have been using this company Bag, Borrow or Steal which is like a club you join and you can use a Designer purse for a few months than switch it out to another one... continuously.

I'm not a "purse person", same goes for shoes. I do find some of them pretty and nicely made, but that's as far as my interest goes. I don't spend a lot of money on purses, they are a necessity though. I usually buy my purses at Marshalls, TJMaxx or Ross. I don't think I've ever spent more than $40.

I found a wristlet that I really liked at the Ann Taylor outlet, it was on sale for $9.99. It doesn't fit much, but it feels great not having something hanging off my shoulder.

No purses for me but did get Marie one, the one that has a duck on it, Doony something I think, some years back, I think it was about 150, during a half price sale at Marshall Fields (going to miss that Marshall Fileds name here in Chicago )

I'm working on a needlepoint pocketbook now. By the time I add up the cost of the canvas and threads, plus the finishing, I expect I'll have about $650.00 invested in it - and that doesn't count the cost of my time!!!

For a traditional pocketbook, I rarely spend more than $50.00 to $75.00 - I almost always carry a Vera Bradley cloth bag.

I don't remember ever dropping more than $100 on a purse, and that was years ago. Lately I look to spend around $30.

Definitely the most I've ever spent on a purse. But, it's a gift/celebration for the end of me carrying a diaper bag.

$30 for me, and that hurt! I'm just not a purse person.

DH and I have a friend who would give us money every time we went to Las Vegas to get her a Louis Vitton something or other. The last time we went she gave us almost $400 for a change purse. Just an itty bitty thing. Nuts if you ask me. While we were in the stores looking I remember thinking they would have to pay me to carry some of the designs I saw!

$200 several years ago. I doubt I'll ever spend more than that.

I just bought a Brighton in NYC for $150 and I love it. I also love my $50 leather purse I bought in Italy a couple of years ago. One of my favorite all-time purses cost $15. I got more compliments on that purse than any other I've ever had.

The most I ever spent was $260 on a Coach purse several years ago. I just bought a Dooney & Bourke purse at TJ Maxx for $130.

However, usually I buy things like Liz Claiborne or Nine West on sale, so no more than $50. Those two purses above were splurges for me.

Most of the ones I own though are between 200-400. I would spend more, but I'm a college student, it's not like I have an unlimited income.

One of my jobs this summer was AT Coach, so that made my handbag addiction a bit easier!

$260 I think? For a Coach purse at the Coach Outlet...but most of the time I have a Vera Bradley MiMi backpack that I use on outings with the kidlets
