What’s the limit on the amount you can charge to your rooms? Just wondering if they have a limit (I would expect they would) and can you review your charges periodically or do you have to wait until the end of the holiday to find out what your bill is?

I plan to take a bit of cash, and a plastic friend (or foe depending on how much it’s used) and charge anything extra at meals to the room as we are on the dinning plan so it would only be extra drinks most times I would imagine.

It all depends on the level of resort you're staying at. Looks like you're at the AKL. Then you should have a $1500 limit.

You can always go to the front desk and get a copy of the charges. We do this several times to catch any mistakes.

Thanks, and what about the kids cards, can you set a limit on them. I actually can't see them being any place without one of the adults to be honest be hey might be a novelty to charge things.

No you can't put a limit on them. They either have charging privledges or they don't.

No charging privileges it is for the kids then, don't fancy coming back to the hotel room to see they delivered a hundred stuffed characters courtesy of the kids ;)

Correct, and the limit is the same for all members in that room.

FYI - the limits vary by resort level, Values $500, Moderates $1000, Deluxes and Vacation Club $1500.

Also remember that you can "settle up" with the front desk by charging the balance to your CC..so you have a "fresh" $1500.00 to spend. I prefer to spend my money at WDW this way (charging to room and the paying that off periodically with the CC) so that it decreases the amount of times my CC number goes out into the cyber sea ... less chance of identity theft, etc..

You can request a print out of your charges at any time from the front desk. It will provide you with an itemized list of every charge to your room since the beginning of your vacation. It will also show you how many credits you have left on your TS, CS and snack vouchers for the dining plan. This is a great way to keep track of your spending while at WDW.

Some of that is done automatically, so beware. Once you've spent the $500, $1000, or $1500, they typically automatically charge your credit card and give you another $500, $1000, or $1500 in credit, without your even asking (or reviewing the charges). If you want to have the most control, you'll need to review your charges a few times per day.

Not always, Bicker. We've been stopped at the limit. We've had to ask them to charge through at the $1500 limit, then we start another round. It's no big deal to do this, and I see it as a protection. I just check with the desk every couple of days to see where we stand. If it's close, I ask them to put the charges through.

I wonder how they make the distinction, between those they allow to charge pass the limit and those they don't.

They didn't automatically charge our CC for us. We hit our limit at a character breakfast, and it was denied. I could have crawled under the table. Here we are at the AK, long way from the Poly, they said we have to go to the Poly front desk and "take care of it", do you have another CC? I'm like "Please I have no other way to pay right this minute, my credit is good I have just overspent !" :guilty:

Interesting. Y'know, it could be a policy change. We haven't come close to overspending my limit for eight years, so my experience might be outdated: Does anyone have any recent experience with their CC being charged automatically mid-trip, instead of their room charge being denied?

I have stayed in several hotels since my last trip to WDW about a year ago. Can't you check your room charges on the TV in your room at WDW or do I have that mixed-up with other hotels. The old memory isn't as good as it used to be.

We were called in our room and were told we were close to reaching our limit. We told them go ahead and put it through on our CC and had a fresh $1500 limit. This was about two years ago.

Happens all the time, at least to us ;) They usually just call the resort, and I tell them to bill it out. They wait a couple minutes and the charge is then approved. :) It is a little strange the first time it happens to you, but believe me, the CMs are used to it.

although we had our credit card on file I didn't actually want them to charge it as we had travellers cheques with us, but i do love the convenience of charging to our room, so every other day i just paid the balance off with the cheques. Sometimes got funny looks as they couldn't understand why i didn't want the card charging, but they were fine with it.

On our trip last week I actually had saved up the money in advance and when I checked in I deposited my spending limit with the Front Desk. It was sufficient for all ten days charges and when we checked out I actually got over $400 back. It was nice to know that I was leaving with a vacation that had no bill coming after it! When you do it this way, you make your own limit. We did however call the front desk about 1/2 way through the trip to make sure we weren't close. The best vacation is a paid for vacation!
