what's the "it" toy this year?

I *think* Pillow Pets.... but I'm not sure about it. However, I seem to be at stores when they're unloading them, and the adults grab the limit, and *poof* they're all gone.

Figures I'd see this happen twice now, when I have kids who are too old for Pillow Pets. Why couldn't it happen when I was hunting Power Ranger figures in 1994?

Pillow pets are over here, you can get them everywhere, target, petco, BBB, you name it. Still popular, but easy to get. Nothing is running scarece here....yet.

Sorry CR, that must have been me ...... I have 10 different ones put away for C'mas gifts.

Actually as our mall only had the knock offs , I order a few weeks ago through the Pillow Pet site.

BJ's, ToysTUs and the local stores are finally getting their shipments in now, but unfortunately only a select 4 or 5 different pets.

Pillow pets are all over here too....big piles of them everywhere.

We got the ones from Disney in June '09.....those were the first like that we had seen.
And we aren't too old for them DD and DDIL both got them then.

I got my super size one from Costco last fall. He is so fun...and huge. Got my BFF one for her birthday.,....again the super size. We love them.

Squinkies seem to be big here. They sell out fast. Zoobles are going pretty well too, just not as fast as squinkies. The Monster High dolls seem to be popular too.

DD has the giraffe from Costco, Santa couldn't find a real one for anything last year. I didn't realize how much bigger he is than the real ones until they started popping up everywhere last month. He's been used daily for the last year and she loves him; well worth the $20.

Squinkies seem to be a hit around here with young girls.

Actually, I don't think I've heard of any one item being a really "hot" item this year.. But DGD is a little older now, so maybe that's why I haven't heard anything mentioned...

I can't believe kids want those Pilloe Pets! When I saw the infomercial, I thought, "What kid..."

Wow.

They seem like boring junk to be played with for 15 minutes... But then, most of the popular toys are!

30 years ago... they had come out with these pillowcases that were just like the covers on the new pillow pets. My Nana who at the time had 16 grandkids, had bought them for any of us that were under 11. I had an elephant Loved it!!!! loved it!!!! Kept it all thru college till it was all worn and bare.
Lost Nana last year and I have bought lots of Pillow pets for the Great grand kids this year. And they are all around 10 years old.
which each Gift I am explaining how Big Nana had bought these for us when we were kids so that giving it to them is like its from big Nana and me..
Cried like a baby picking them out I am sure the Walmart people thought I was a nutjob.

but I digress. I have purchased, 3 dolphins, 2 Monkeys, One Panda, and one penquin.
If they had an elephant I think I may have bought one for myself.

My SIL has a Toy room for the grandkids-11 months to 3 1/2-full of various toys.

The BIG hit with the kids?
I big box of metal camping dishes, pots, covers mugs-the older girls played "Tea Party" the little guys were banging them togther-having a ball

I got the elephant and got BFF the tiger. They are great being so big because they open up and are really good size pillow.

The Disney ones are still in the parks too. We saw them last month.
DD got the lion and DDIL got the panda.

They are all cute.

We eventually DID get 2 - from Montana. White & Green. And then a couple months later, scored the MegaZord, again from Montana.

I've said it before on a different thread, but I really think the only reason all the kids want one of these pillow pets is because of the commercial. They love that song!

one of my girls really wants a monster high doll, the call of duty game is on both boys list.. really haven't heard of anything major yet, which is odd, it is November! our stores have plently of Squinkies and i've seen a few pillow pets around, but they are not on my list!
