Whats the first thing you do upon arrival?

We usually go to Downtown Disney to Earl of Sandwich for lunch -- or we head over to Epcot.

Scary.

We like to arrive a little after noon. Once we setup, it's off to Downtown Disney and we eat at Earl of Sandwich. Then we hang out to stretch the legs a little more.

We live fairly close also so we come to FW right after work. I back in to the site (DW sets the leveling blocks for me to pull on to), pull the awning, leave a light on and head to the park that has the extra magic hours!

First thing after checkin .. if the site isn't ready we park in the overflow lot and then head to trails end for breakfast/lunch . I think we used to call the guest services number where they would inform us the site was ready then go set up. I usually back the vehicle in , unhook, level, and finish setting up the externals while my wife sets up the interior..Then its off to the dock or for a walk .. We drive most of the way in the night before.. usually stopping in Ocala or Wildwood.. Then its just a quick 2 hours to the Fort the next morning.

It takes us about 20 hours to get from NY to the Fort. We usually do a long first day which gets us into GA leaving us about 6-8 hours on day 2. We arrive anywhere from 11-1 and never know if our site will be ready so we usually get our rental car before we get to the Fort. Lately Enterprise has had pretty good deals so they have gotten our business. After check in, DS will grab the golf cart and follow us to the site. Since I drive the RV the whole 20 hours, we have this informal agreement that DS and DW will set up while I relax. I too enjoy a cigar while I sit in my comfy camp chair supervising the hook up and deployment of the awning. They are good at it as long as they don’t argue over who is going too fast or slow and the chore is over in less than half an hour. Then its time for a quick golf cart tour of the neighborhood with a stop at the Meadows for my favorite Cranberry Juice cocktail (boring I know) and sodas for DS and DW. Then we head home in the golf cart tour and all hit the showers. Dinner is usually at Trails End the first night followed by the campfire show and movie (unless I am just too tired).

I have only one add. The family gives me about 3-5 minutes of space to grouse about much more enjoyable/less stressful the trip would be if I had a bigger truck. I could be driving a Petebuilt (or one of those other monster trucks), and it still wouldn't be big enough.

You must have been talkin to my wife! We were just discussing this on our last trip to the Fort. She says my rig is not big enough to fill the hole site. I told her I prefer a tighter fit to test my skills as an excellent driver. It is the challenge of pulling in and out of a smaller site most wheelmen enjoy.

After setting up the pop-up the first thing I want to do is to head over to the pool/Trading Post/campfire sing-along depending on the time of day we get in to FW. There is something about that central part of the Fort that draws me in. I don't have to spend money necessarily; I just feel the gravitational pull of the Fort's "Ground Zero".

I also like sitting on the rocking chairs of the Meadow TP or at Trails End in the late afternoons as the sun starts to go down. I turn into a lump and usually the only thing that gets me out of the chair is the thought of food.

After arriving we set up camp and relax. That night we hit the pool and/or the movie. The very next morning, our tradition is to get to rope drop at the MK and then skip down Main Street. Its hokey and silly, but my dad did it with us everytime we went to Disney on the first day. Another tradition is dining at Liberty Tree Tavern.

That is a great tradition and a very nice story, thanks for sharing that with us.

We are coming from about 10 hours away (driving) and we leave around 2AM so our DD1 and DD2 will sleep most of the trip down. so we arrive around lunch time. We get to the Fort and check in, drop the 5th wheel, and head for Giordano's THE BEST pizza joint in town (second to Trail's End of course ----only kidding).

Then that afternoon after naps its straight to DTD fro shopping, Wolfgang Pucks Cafe, and of course Giradelli!!!

we usually don't arrive until late afternoon and don't get park tickets for that day:

==pickup the golf cart
==pickup a TE Fried Chicken Dinner and head back to the site
==head to the pool or take a ride around on the monorail
==hit the showers and get ready to hit the Magic Kingdom for rope drop

After we set up we walk the dog then head for food. We have a 33 foot class A motor coach but love to go the BW and get lunch. We then go to the parks and check out anything new. Head back to the camp ground unhook the pull behing and head out to food shop. At night take in the stage coach show and camp fire then to bed (long day).

Next day rent a boat and cruse the lake for some time. In the afternoon head to the parks again get lunch and stay for any shows. Night time head to down town Disney for dinner after we walk off the dinner walking around the lake.

Day 3 we pack and head home, we live 80 miles north of Disney so our trips are short and often.
