I would consider a "super model" one who is a household name. Christie Brinkley, Iman, Paulina Poriczkova (sp?), Christy Turlington, etc.

A "model" is just a nameless body--or body part.

Super models were really a thing of the 80s and 90s. I don't think there are really any "supermodels" these days, with the exception of maybe Gisele Bundchen.

Jobs that used to go to traditional models (perfume, makeup, clothes print ads) are now going to more and more established actresses, so models aren't getting as well known.

I agree with Anne -

Supermodels are people you have heard of and are famous for modeling...Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford in addition to those mentioned above.

Models are just random people who do runway shows and print ads who have no real name recognition behind them.
