With getting hiccups on Atkins? I get the hiccups at least twice a day on Atkins, and never used to get them before. I can get them to go away pretty quickly, since I am drinking so much water, but I was just curious if anyone else experiences this and why?

No hiccups for me! On the rare occasion that I do get hiccups, a sip or two of soda always gets rid of them. Strange.

I don't get hiccups and neither does my husband. Hope your hiccup episodes go away and stay away. Hiccups are aggravating.

No hiccups for me either. I only get them when I try eating without taking a sip of water now and then.

Maybe you're drinking too quickly and swallowing air. Try making sure you drink slowly, sip your water.

I was given a cure for hiccups that nearly always works. Unfortunately it makes you look rather stupid so it's best done in private. I thought it was a joke first time I tried but it did work.

First raise your arms out to the side until your elbows are just above your shoulders

Then place your index fingers inside your ears, right inside the canal.

Next wait until you stop hiccing. It can take a minute or more.

I don't know why this works but I assume you're stretching your diaphram whilst changing the pressure inside your ENT region.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies! It is strange, isn't it? But the benefits of following Atkins sure outweigh the small aggravation of having the hiccups!
