I'm mildly annoyed with Allegiant Air's seemingly random price fluctuations. We are headed to the World Jan 25- Feb 1, 2008. I looked at these dates when the airfare first came out and it was $59 each way -- total steal! I SHOULD have booked then, but we weren't totally sure if we were going. Then when we DID decide to go, it was up to $81 each way. We waited a day to book and the prices jumped to $129 one way and $81 the other way -- AAAGH! So, we looked for other options and booked JetBlue instead. Whew! Disaster averted, right? NOT! Now today the Allegiant flights are back DOWN to $79 each way! I figured the prices would only go up at this point, so that's why I jumped on the JetBlue deal. I'm SO bummed. Allegiant isn't like Southwest, either. They don't let you rebook for the savings after the fact. I guess I need to spend some more time watching their prices to see if I notice any patterns. ANyone else stalking Allegiant air with me?? Anyone know if there's a method to their madness?

I booked Allegiant back in April for $49 each way for our trip that starts this Saturday. :cool1: They went down once to $39 in May when Allegiant advertised a sale, but since then have gone up as the plane filled. Currently, my flight out is at $209 and my return is not listed on their website. When I saw that, I called in a panic hoping that my flight had not been cancelled. The customer service rep said that the flight was not available on their website because it was completely full and that they don't overbook. I chose not to pay for assigned seats, so I'm hoping my group of six can at least sit 3 and 3 if they can't put us all together. The return flight is at 8 AM and we're not morning people, especially after a week at WDW, so I don't know how early we will get there to get our seat assignments.

I was wanting to fly Allegiant this Nov, but I was unable to book tickets when they first came out with our dates. When I was ready to book prices were $114 pp each way (228 round trip, per person), I when to travelocity and was just looking around for flights and found airtran had round trip from Indy. I spent $367 round trip for three total. It is further to drive to Indy than South bend, but the savings was to hard to pass up.
I am watching the website for Feburary to Vegas and to Orlando again in September.popcorn::
So yes there is another "stalker" out there.

I, too, am stalking Allegiant air. I want to go sometime in 08, but right now the prices are 125 each way for my area. Plus, they fly into Sanford instead of MCO, which adds the price of a transfer or rental car. IDK, their prices fluxuate wildly, and I have been watching their site for a while.

Courage of conviction is needed when booking airline tickets. When you see a price that is attractive, book it. You need to stop trying to get a rock bottom price because an airline seat is a commodity subject to supply and demand. The discount carriers increase their prices as the number of available seats decreases. The keywords are an attractive price because your upside risk is greater than your downside potential.

Have a great trip:cool1:

We rent a car when we fly into Sanford and have gotten GREAT deals from Dollar there. I had a Dodge GRAND Caravan from dollar last May for 8 days, under $200!! Totally worth it.

I do try to book my airfare when the price is appealing, I just wish I had jumped on those very appealing $59 tix! I'm just confused about why the price went DOWN again after it was up at $129? If it has to do with how many tickets are sold, shouldn't the prices just continue to rise? I'm done second guessing them, I'll just book as early as possible in the future and who knows, maybe I'll find out that I prefer Jet Blue this time!
