I think, like with other words, it just depends on what part of the country you are from. We have always said Bo9. Steve is a pharmacist and I used to work in pharmacy as well. That said, if a customer came in and asked for Boneen, I would know what they meant! I think it's potato potahto, tomato tomahto.

Bo-neen here (well at least that is how I say it....)

My sisters name is Janine, pronounced Ja-neen, not Ja-9, so maybe that is why I call it that! Come to think of it, some people think her name is ja-9!

In medication names, "ine" is pronounced "een."

Bonine is correctly pronounced BOW-neen -- just as Dramamine is pronounced DRAM-uh-meen, not DRAM-uh-mine; and Meclizine is pronounced MEK-li-zeen, not MEK-li-zine.

Now, having said all that, I'll admit that we pronounce it BO-9 around our house.
