Whats the cheapest you have ever done Disney?

My solution to my disney addiction is to take each one of my four kids on a Mommy and Me long weekend. I went in '10 with my DD, we just did a family trip this Oct, now I'm headed back in Sept with my DS8. My DH doesn't like disney so I've got to figure out a way to get there and this is my new plan. 1 kid a year.

Are you talking about per person or as a family?

I have no idea how many are in your family.

Our trips are typically around $2,000 including everything for a family of 5 for a week. If we go for two weeks, the cost is only minimally more (still under $2,500.)

That includes lodging, food, gas to get there, and tickets.

Dawn

Can you share where you stay? What you do for food? Do you get discount tickets? Thanks so much! $2000 would be great!

Not sure how many are in your family, but its usually only my daughter and I that go... I do two trips a year solo or with friends, and two trips with her. The way Im able to do that is

(1) Im a FL AP holder - we've done one trips so far (5 days), and my solo trip is coming up (7 days). So for two APs I have paid $264 so far (Im on the monthly plan).

(2) I always stay on-site. I tried off-site one time and wanted to slit my wrists lol. You do save on benefits, parking, etc unless you hold APs then you save on parking. I rent points from DVC owners which is a great savings over booking direct, sometimes cheaper than booking off-site.

(3) Meals - when my daughter is with me, I buy 2 QS DDP and then we eat our dinners offsite "if" we were still even hungry. We saved a ton of money last trip doing that. When its just me, I don't buy a DP, but I bring groceries with me and splurge a few times on TS.

(4) Souvenir/gift/extras are on a budget. I set aside a greendot prepaid card that I use just for Disney. I put a certain amount on it and leave the others at home. Save gift shopping for last day.

Just a few little things I do.

This is my exact plan:) we went for he first time in OCT, husband wasn't impressed, I was in love. The plan is to take each of my 4 kids, probably the year they turn 12 or 13, with the first trip coming up in 2016 or 2017. My kids are spaced pretty evenly this year they will be 10,6,4 and 2, so it works out pretty well:)

I also want to add that I didn't think the Disney vacation itself was too bad, the flight tickets are what made it almost unaffordable. We live just a little too far away to make driving cost effective, we would need a hotel each way and extra vacation days.

Cheapest & Best trip I've ever done was my 2010 Girls Trip for me and my best friend. We're not PAP or DVC, so everything was out of pocket, and I'm not including flights since we flew separately.

We ended up staying in April during "Value 2" season, when they used to have one in the spring. We also snagged a 35% off a Standard room in AKL for 5 Days/6 Nights (Side note- got upgraded to Savannah, woohoo!).

Including Dining Plan (Regular, not Quick Service) and 4 day park hoppers, it came out to be roughly $1100 each.

My cheapest trip was the first week in June 2013 (Saturday to Saturday), at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for 1 adult, 2 Disney adults:

This was the original budget:
$0 - Condo is a graduation gift for DD from grandparents (Wyndham owners)
$300 - driving expenses (gas and hotel back & forth, one night is on points, one night cash)
$800 - food budget (groceries, 3 TS, the rest CS meals)
$625 - tickets (have 10 day no expire hoppers w/ WP & more tickets that we will use over 3 trips. Using 3 park days, 2 plus days this trip)
$ 45 - parking at parks

$1770 total

In the end gas cost about $100 more and we spent an extra $150 on food (went to Cape May Cafe for dinner instead of eating around the Epcot World Showcase CS places in the pouring rain, plus what happened below*).
So it was more like $2020 for the 3 of us.

*But then came a budget buster - DH decided to fly down for a couple of days and surprise us. I have never bothered to figure out how much his park ticket use, shuttle, airport parking and flight added to the whole total. I think it was close to $300 extra. I already included the extra food costs for him in my above total.
So $2320 total.

In 2009 we had 2 connecting rooms at Pop with FD for 11 nights and we paid $4300 for 10 day tickets, room, and dining plan. It cost us $600 in gas round trip and each of our 6 kids got a $50 GC. for souvenirs. We also spent about $300 in other things (tips, road food, etc.) So it was about $5500 total for 12 days in WDW for 8 people, or about $687 per person. Not too shabby. The trip before off site was about $10K.

Our cheapest trip was Sept 2006. 6 days 5 nights Pop with park hoppers, free dining (which included tips and appetizers then) for 2 adults 2 kids (aged 3 1/2 and 9 months at the time) with airfare from White Plains NY was around 1700.

Our last trip, which was 9 nights at Bonnet Creek cost us over 3000 and that doesnt include the 800 disney points we redeemed. Food was a big budget buster. It was an awesome trip though.

I do think next Disney trip will probably be back to onsite, but maybe rent a dvc unit. Cruising is our new addiction.....

Best deal we ever got was for an adult only trip for our 5 year anniversary in 2006 for DW and I. $1500 got us 2 flights from BUF, 7 day park passes, 7 nights at POP and the free dining plan. This was when the dining plan was new and featured both an appetizer AND desert and the tip was included as well!

Does staying in cocoa beach with relatives, out and back on beeline and having parents pay for everything count as cheap trip?:drive:
