We're thinking of taking the Auto Train on our upcoming trip and I really didn't want to cut our last day at WDW short to make the train. I can't really justify paying much money for a place to lay my head for the night, so I was wondering what was the cheapest rate you've found for anywhere in the WDW area.

As long as the hotel is clean and safe, I'm happy. :thumbsup2 (Of course, anything would be a disappointment after AKL, so I'm prepared to be depressed. ;))

Try easy click travel . com

I have found the Howard Johnson Enchanted land for 35$ a night. The pool was gross, but the rooms were really clean.

You can get a nice room by bidding for a 3* hotel in the LBV area on Priceline.

herc.

Thanks, Mommiepoppins, I've never heard of travel.com, but it's now added to my bookmarks!

Herc, what's the LBV area?

ETA: DUH, nevermind. I just said it out loud and figured it out. :teeth:

www.easyclicktravel.com Not sure if you have the right site, this is the link anyway. Sounds like you just searched travel.com which is not a great site uses same search engine as expedia.

I got 2 different hotels on 192 just south of the Maingate for less than $30/night last month through www.hotwire.com . One was Days Inn Maingate East (I wouldn't recommend it- didn't feel safe)- the other was Howard Johnson Maingate East (clean and basic- I'd go there again).

I don't remember how much we payed but back when I worked at EPCOT we spent our last night before going home at VIKING MOTELwhich is in Kissimmee - across the street from Walmart.

This a good site I use. Based 20 miles from me here in UK but You can book from US no problem, you don't have to convert to $US it does it for you.
We get better rates here in UK a lot of the times, they have rooms from under $30 including tax.
I have just used them for my August trip 25 nights at Courtyard By Marriott LBV. Marriott wanted over $3,000. Alpharooms did it for $1,187:thumbsup2

Oh my! :faint:

We could stay at WDW for a month for the rates I'm seeing on these sites! Holy moly!

We fly over to Florida for about 50 nights a year, couldn't afford to stay onsite for what Disney charges. I think Disney still charge $10/night for internet connection that alone would be $500 for us a year, Free in Marriott.:thumbsup2

I also stayed at the Howard Johnson Inn Maingate East recently (Oct. 2006). I don't recall having any problems. I used a coupon walk-in and paid $29.95 + $7.50 for taxes and other fees. I also stayed at Seralago and that was good too. I'm looking at my receipt now because I'm going to WDW next week and I'm trying to figure out too if I should book in advance or just wait and use a coupon again.

WHOPEE! Thanks WayNeg!!!
I kept trying to get quality suites down from 109 a night. the guy kept telling me that was the cheapest the had.
I got 75 a night with alpharooms!!!
Thank You!!:cool1:

When we used Hotwire 2 years ago we were able to get the Clarion - Universal for like $35 a night. It was your average hotel, but that price was to good to pass up. Good luck ;)

Thats great.
I am lucky they are an affiliate member of a cashback site I use here in UK so I get an additional 6% cachback on top of their low rates. :cool1: :cheer2:

It gets mixed reviews but we were able to get the Days Inn (not suites) by Old Town for $19.99/nt. We fanangeled it all through their best rate guarantee. We stayed 8 nights that trip. I know it gets mixed reviews. I found the room/resort to be clean, modern, and just very basic. We didn't expect any frills and we didn't get any....it worked for us. I spent days on the computer though to find that rate.

:worship: I'm not worthy!

If we found a place at that rate, we could stay an extra 2-3 days. But then I'd want to go to Universal or something and that defeats the whole purpose of saving a few bucks.
