What's the chances on a room during holidays while on waitlist

Adults Looking to go just for a few days after Christmas decor is up just to look at the Christmas decorations and enjoy the resort. I know there just isn't any non busy time at WDW but looking for suggestions. I know pools are heated but is it enough to enjoy in December? I can book now at BLT but hoping for the GF at my 7 mo. window. Just trying to decide what date would be doable. TIA

Early December weather is unpredictable but can certainly allow swimming, depending on your tolerance for being chilly when you get out. The pools are heated to 80-85 degrees (F). This year, high temperatures have been in the low to mid 70s to the mid 80s all month, but it can be colder than that. Traditionally, the first two weeks of December are very popular with DVC owners and book up very quickly, but with the gradual increase in points cost, we may see that change over the next few years. I'd book at my home resort now, to get the dates you want, then change at 7 months if something acceptable is available.
