Where are you staying? At the value resorts, it seems the preferred rooms book up first, so odds of an upgrade (even a paid for one) would be very slim.
According to the disney site, all their standard rooms are booked but there's preferred rooms available. Hmmm...we'll ask when we check in. We don't mind the standard room, we like walking the distance to take in the resort, but we'll still ask. Thanks.
It's always possible. We have DVC so for one stay we booked a standard view at Kidani. When we checked in we were upgraded to a savannah view without us even asking. The woman at the desk was showing us the resort map where our room was going to be and said "enjoy - you have been upgraded to a savannah room". It was a nice surprise and better that the trip consisted of only me, my mother and my son (who was 3 at the time).
You never know what can happen - good luck!
Hello there...just thought to say that we received upgrades twice! Once at the Poly we were given a view of the castle (booked standard) and then at the Grand Floridian we were given a tower room with view of the fireworks every night (booked standard)...there the CM actually pointed out that we had a 2 level upgrade. I never actually asked for an upgrade but at the Poly I did request the CM to see if a different room was available as the first offering was too far for my mother...she did so without complaint and that was when we ended up with the view of the castle.
