"What's the Catch - Do I Not Get Bacon?" - 11/27 - TR started!

Resort – Polynesian
Park – Magic Kingdom
Section – Tomorrowland
Ride - TTA

Good luck on the bridesmaid thing. Isn’t girl drama just the worst??? :crazy2:

Glad to hear the positive review of the dessert party. It seems like most reviews are just ..eh about it. Being short, I can totally justify not having to compete for a place to stand or sit just to have some six foot person stand right in front of you. The desserts just add to it!

Thanks for the fireworks lesson. I’ve been so intimidated by them that I haven’t even tried them yet. What are your thoughts on the gorilla pod’s? They seem easy to transport and easier to set-up just about anywhere. Do you think you end up with, or is it easier to shoot, the further you are away from the fireworks, say from the beach at the Polynesian?

Christine

Quick question for everyone here on this PTR (I don't want to hijack it!):

Since most on here are into photography...do you have any recommendations for on-line printing?? Usually I just get 4X6's printed locally or thru Wal-Mart, Walgreens, ect. General printing is fine for those but I have a few prints that I like so much that I would like to have them printed as 11X14's. Have any favorites? Or any stay-away-from's?

Thanks!

Christine

I use Shutterfly for online prints, but I have never ordered larger than 4x6 from them. Too bad Wendy's store is so far away!

I am so very sorry to hear about your cousin's news. Blessings to him and to your family.

Good luck with the party and the wedding. Hope everything goes smoothly, or if not, at least that you get some funny stories.

What great, clear, informative photo instructions you are giving. Can't thank you enough!

Regarding the pre-purchase of the photopass CD- if you "know" a DISer or DISers going at the approximate same time as you, discuss doing a share. One person orders and owns the account but you can add as many pictures to the account as you want. You are no longer allowed to post requests for a share on the main threads but as far as I know, you can arrange that through PM or email. I have one with 4 families and over 500 pictures from my July trip. It was easy for me because all of my account-mates are people I know and trust from the Beach Club board. One of the issues, though, is that there is no way I know of to easily share a Photopass Plus account.

How do I love your List of Lists? Let me count the ways!

I am a list maker too, but I keep losing my lists (they get buried in my other paperwork cr*p), so I make the same ones again and again. But at least the process of writing things down on the lists helps me remember what I need to do. Most of the time.

Favorite resort: WDW (and if we are talking "resorts" Beach Club, of course)
Favorite park: EPCOT
Favorite area: World Showcase
Favorite ride: Big Thunder Mountain

Bachelorette Parties - ahhhh they can be the worst to plan. sorry you have to. Guess she isn't into the whole simple spa idea???
It really is the worst thing I've ever planned. I have 3 days to go and nothing's working out!
No, she's very much not at all into something simple. She wanted us all to go to Vegas... :crazy2:

Love your photo tips. I am trying to practice -that si on my to do list before our trip.
Glad you like them! :goodvibes And practice makes perfect. :thumbsup2

Today I feel this:
Resort - Wilderness
Park - Magic Kingdom
Section - New Fantasyland
Ride: Dumbo
That sounds wonderful and I think I'll adopt that for myself this morning! pixiedust: POOF! Away I go to my happy place! :rotfl:

1) WDW
2) Magic Kingdom
3) Fantasyland
4) Teacups :)
Wonderful, though at this hour the thought of the spinning teacups makes me want to go back to bed... :rotfl:

Ok, I love those Sanuk Slings - I will be googling them very shortly - hehe - I may need these for my trip! I really enjoyed your photography lesson, I am currently trying to get through a book on my camera before we go away so I know all the ins and outs and its special features.... :scared: I can't believe you have time to post with usual summer business, work AND being a maid of honor!! I do not envy you hehe.... My sister is going to eventually get married and I don't want to touch that duty with a ten foot pole for the pure drama value that will ensue.... :)
I really like those sandals. Nice and squishy, lots of material holding it on my foot, but not so much that it makes my foot hot. :thumbsup2
Glad you liked the lesson! So many features on cameras these days, I still don't know them all!
OMG I'm literally counting down the days until I'm not a MOH anymore! (Actually, the bride's really easy to deal with so I'm just waiting until the Bachelorette is over, 4 more days!!)

I would like to be at:

WDW
Hollywood Studios
Sunset Blvd
Tower of Terror

Ohhh not me! That's one ride I absolutely hate! (Get out the flame throwers, I'm ready! :lmao: :rotfl: )

So sorry to hear about your cousin. Will keep sending good thoughts your way.

Thank you, we've got some good news and I hope I get a few minutes this evening to update!

I am so excited about the opportunities I will have in October for firework pictures. Since I'm by myself, I'm venturing into the parks with my tripod in tow for the first time and hoping to catch Wishes, Hallowishes, and Illuminations. It's hard to bring a tripod when visiting with the kids because we already have a lot we're bringing to the park.

I really love fireworks pictures, if you can get the exposure, they do the rest! I had never taken a tripod until last year, I doubt I'll ever go without one now. I totally understand it being pretty hard with kids though!

Ugh, I hate it when you get an update all typed up and the board eats it! I am so sorry to hear about your cousin, I can't even imagine hearing that news. I hope that the appointment with the other doctor goes well.
Thank you, it did and I have some better news to share with everyone!

Lists make me so happy, I love how many lists you have! They really help make things easier and make you feel like you are getting things accomplished.
hahaha I actually have even more lists on the go right now too (Lots of Maid of Honour crap!) I need the lists more than ever this year, way too much going on.

Great photography tips for fireworks!! I have gotten some good shots in the past, but your tips will really be helpful for my new DSLR!
I'm glad you liked them! Give fireworks shots a try, everyone seems pretty amazed at how awesome they can be when you have a tripod. :thumbsup2

Goodness Wendy, I don't even know what to say regarding your cousin. I am so very sorry to hear that. Please know that you have lots of support here. :goodvibes
Thank you so much Rob! We got a little hopeful news yesterday so I'm anxious to share with everyone. I'm seriously late for work right now so I hope I get time tonight! I do know that I have lots of support here, it's one of the biggest reasons I love this place. :goodvibes

I love doing lists too. "Pay off trip". Haha, I like that one. If you get photopass, consider PP+, especially if there's a deal. All those ride photos are so much fun.
We actually did discuss that after seeing all the ride photos on your trip, it's not much more at all for the plus so we're going for it if we do get the cd!

Ooh fun!

- Which Disney resort? WDW
- Which park? MK
- Which section? In the middle of Main Street USA.... In front of that castle... During Wishes. (I may have borrowed that from somewhere.)
- Which ride? EVEREST!
Everest! Nice call. It's a little too early for me (actually, I'm just sick and therefore sleepy :lmao: ) to think of Everest. PeopleMover is more my speed right now! :rotfl2:

/
I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. :sad1: He'll be in my prayers.

Wishes dessert party sounds like it might be a great fit for me and my mom (never mind that she's diabetic :rotfl:) I just want a good spot for the fireworks!

And check this - I got a BOG reservation, no muss, no fuss for our first hypothetical full day in February! :woohoo:

I wanted to say thanks for commenting on my TR as well - it's nerve wracking writing those things, and I really appreciate knowing someone is reading.

I'll play this game:

If you could blink your eyes and nod your head and be anywhere you wish, which would you choose...:

- Which Disney resort? WDW!
- Which park? Magic Kingdom in a heartbeat.
- Which section? Main street... but my favorite ride isn't there so I'll go with Liberty Square.
- Which ride? Haunted Mansion. Always, always, Haunted Mansion!

I love doing lists too. "Pay off trip". Haha, I like that one. If you get photopass, consider PP+, especially if there's a deal. All those ride photos are so much fun.

Which rides have pictures for Photopass+ ??is there a link?

Here is a link to the PP+ http://www.disneyphotopass.com/specialoffers/wdwppp.htm

The attractions available I believe are:

Animal Kingdom: Everest and Dinosaur
Epcot: Test Track
DHS: Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster
Magic Kingdom: Splash Mountain, Space Montain, and Buzz Lightyear.

Lists! And lists of lists! I <3 lists too :)
Lists keep me sane!

If you could blink your eyes and nod your head and be anywhere you wish, which would you choose...:

- Which Disney resort? (WDW? DLP? California?) WDW!
- Which park? (If applicable) (Epcot, MK, etc.) Today, I'd choose MK
- Which section? (Tomorrowland, world showcase, Pixar Place, etc.) Main Street USA
- Which ride? (RnR? TSM? Teacups?) walking towards the castle, headed for the teacups!!
Sounds good to me!

Sorry to hear about your cousin, that is very sad news :(
Thanks for your concern, but I do have some positive news!

Lifting your cousin up, and you too honestly. Surviving being MOH is not always the easiest of tasks!
Thank you on both counts, as of today everything is looking up!

I love lists too! I like your list of lists. Cute shoes too! We bought Kendall the yoga mat ones last year, she really liked them, still wears them!
I really like my flip flops and still wear them all the time, very comfy!

- Which Disney resort? WDW
- Which park? Epcot
- Which section? World Showcase
- Which ride? Is the Ditch a ride :rotfl2: Actually I'd probably go for the new lovely little wine bar in Italy.

If it has to be a ride then...

- Which Disney resort? WDW
- Which park? DHS
- Which section? Sunset Boulevard
- Which ride? RRC

haha! Two great choices, I'll allow the Ditch. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

LOVE the fireworks tips, need to really get my act in gear and get some notes organized on that kind of thing.
I keep meaning to organize everything I wrote into one condensed format for everyone, but I just can't get the time! Maybe after this blasted wedding is over! :rotfl:

Resort – Polynesian
Park – Magic Kingdom
Section – Tomorrowland
Ride - TTA

:thumbsup2

Good luck on the bridesmaid thing. Isn’t girl drama just the worst??? :crazy2:
Omg I basically hate all girls right now. I'm casting a wide net and holding a big grudge! :rotfl:

Glad to hear the positive review of the dessert party. It seems like most reviews are just ..eh about it. Being short, I can totally justify not having to compete for a place to stand or sit just to have some six foot person stand right in front of you. The desserts just add to it!
I really, really enjoyed it. Just not competing for space -- that alone made it worth it!

Try the fireworks, they're easier than you think! I love my Gorillapod and will be taking it to Disney with me, but I will admit that it's not as sturdy as I would like it to be. Now that it's worked in really well it's not as stiff as it was and it tends to creep on me. In some ways fireworks are easier to photograph from a greater distance -- less likely the depth of field will miss any for one! Also a little easier to zoom in and get much of it in the frame. :thumbsup2

I can't honestly say, I have never used any of them but I have heard good things about Shutterfly. No personal experience though!

I had such horrible prints done at Walmart--- just dark (I had other prints to compare it to) I think I am going to try shutterfly and maybe adorama next go around. Using adorama for ones I want to print larger than 4x6....
Adorama? I have to check that one out!

I use Shutterfly for online prints, but I have never ordered larger than 4x6 from them. Too bad Wendy's store is so far away!
Hehehe I'll have to tell my boss I'm drumming up business from across the continent!

I am so very sorry to hear about your cousin's news. Blessings to him and to your family.
Thanks so much, Dee, I'm happy to say I have a little good news about him!

Good luck with the party and the wedding. Hope everything goes smoothly, or if not, at least that you get some funny stories.
Hahaha thanks, actually this has gotten better too, I must say (though not before first getting much worse!)

What great, clear, informative photo instructions you are giving. Can't thank you enough!
You are very welcome! I am just so glad you're enjoying the lessons! :goodvibes

I have shared with family before but never done one of the shares. I don't actually know of anyone going at the same time as me as of now either and I am not comfortable sharing with strangers really. I don't think there is a way to share the PP+ either, and that's what we are looking at getting. At least I have some time to think about this one!

I'm so overwhelmed right now if I didn't have lists I'd just curl up in a ball of denial and get nothing done. :rotfl2:

Oh Big thunder! me too, me too!

So Wendy - can we do online/mail order hehe....

:goodvibes:
Technically yes! But with shipping it would definitely not be worth it! :rotfl:

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. :sad1: He'll be in my prayers.
Thank you very much, and with all the good vibes and prayers going around I have some good news to share!

Ok I might be wrong, but something tells me there may be sugar free desserts. Hmm... but yes, apart from the sweets, the view is wonderful!

And check this - I got a BOG reservation, no muss, no fuss for our first hypothetical full day in February! :woohoo:
YAY!! Congrats on the ressie!

Oh yes, HM is (usually) my favourite ride. It switches, but usually comes back to HM! :rotfl2:

So shipping to the US would make it cost prohibitive... I don't get it! Hehe you are probably closer to me than most places that ship to me anyway... :goodvibes: Yes, I noticed it on their website, I just went back to double check but it's called Adorama pix. They also do photo books... I may be in trouble. ;) I think I am going to try it for our September trip - I will let you know what I think!!

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's condition. Keeping positive thoughts headed your family's way.

Disney does require you do to a lot of walking, so I can understand where you're coming from. I keep telling my mother she needs to get on her treadmill 'cuz she's gotta keep up. :rotfl2: At least you have the dogs to keep you going. I know my dog makes me accountable, because he gets so antsy if I skip a walk.

Good luck with the bachelorette party and wedding! Those events can be so stressful! If it gets too crazy with those other girls, just remember you'll be in Disney in a few months. :goodvibes

I remember that little game from your last PTR! So, let's see:

- Which Disney resort? Walt Disney World
- Which park? Epcot
- Which section? Future World
- Which ride?
Test Track

Oh I LOVE photo books! I'm going to start making one every year, a year in review type of thing. We can order them through the store! :thumbsup2

I have so much room around the yard for the dogs to run that I do get lazy about them, but I took them before breakfast this morning and remembered how much I like doing that. Hope I can get back into it!

Hi everyone!

tumblr_mqo7bcvLtR1qikmd9o1_500.gif

I don't have a lot of time right now but just wanted to update you all on a couple of things.

tumblr_mog6ye1sij1rome1po1_r1_500.gif

First and foremost: Thank you all so so SO much for the prayers, vibes, wishes and thoughts for my cousin.

Disney-Hugs.gif

We have some good news! The cancer centre he's at now has entered him in an experimental program. Basically he starts in just about a week. They will try an experimental cancer treatment and if it works, great! If not, they will try another. It's far from guaranteed good outcome, but so very much better than what his last doctor told him! The benefit concert his work is throwing him has over 3000 people invited, 20 bands lined up to play and looks like it's going to be a great success.

goofy-movie-thumbs-up.gif

And to the more trivial of my concerns;

qTI0O38.gif

the bachelorette party I'm planning.

tumblr_m36jxidCOf1r00k92o1_500.gif

tumblr_mjexnnFnf31rxui9eo1_500.gif

Two nights ago we cancelled everything and went back to the drawing board. Came up with some fun plans, everyone's agreeing, things look good. So that's two major things off my back right now!

tumblr_mpgk6e6GFW1rh58ldo1_500.gif

tumblr_mqkljlE0g01rv3b62o1_500.gif

So tomorrow is the actual bachelorette party, then next Friday is the wedding.

tumblr_m4aap7OMCS1rvyb0vo1_500.gif

We're going to spend the weekend in a beach cottage with the bride and groom and their friends, then I should have more time to myself! At work everyone has taken their summer vacations (not me, not until 80 more days!!) and things are looking set to quiet down. It's been a stressful month! I promise to catch up on everyone's reports after that (and in between, intermittently on my ipad on lunch breaks!) and get some updates of my own!

Until next time...

tumblr_moolc5LZFs1sp9fcho1_r1_500.gif

I am so glad that your cousin is getting an opportunity for some treatment and a more positive sounding doctor. I really hope that the first one works for him.

Have fun this weekend!!

That is great that your cousin has some options ahead of him. I wish him all the luck to getting healthy. Much more positive than before. :goodvibes:

I am glad things are looking up for your cousin. I will continued to keep him in my prayers and hope with great success with his treatment.

I hope the bachelorette party goes great. And next week this time the wedding will be behind you. I hope you get to take a few of your own pictures of the wedding. I am sure they will be fantastic.

Wow Wendy. This is all just so wonderful. While nothing is ever guarateed, this all really does sound positive.

Plus, that benefit concert with that many people and all, it really brings a tear to my eye. Cape Bretoner's doing what they do best... helping each other. :goodvibes

Thank you! I think the positive doctor is the best part, having a doctor tell you there's no hope isn't an uplifting experience for sure.

Thank you, you're so right, much more positive!

Thanks, Mary Ellen! I appreciate that. It's so good to have something positive from a doctor!

It went very well, if I do say so myself (all things considered!) I hope to take some pictures too but... well her hired photographer has some interesting quirks and might not want me to. :confused3 hahaha we'll see! One week from right now and it's all over!

It's very positive news, definitely much better than the last set of news.
Capers can really pull together, that's for sure. It's one big community when it counts! :thumbsup2

So the bachelorette party is over.

tumblr_magfs1Ebrf1ro8qpo.gif

And I know the question on your mind is...

Did I survive?

Yes.

tumblr_m7qx754USL1rycybeo1_500.gif

Barely.

tumblr_mbc0vatq4P1rrukzio1_500.gif

I don't drink alcohol, which is lucky because I felt bad enough yesterday as it was! I was out until 2 with the girls, we went back to the hotel room and deposited them safely and then I went home. Got to bed around 3:00am. My bed time is 9:30! :rotfl:

sleep-gif1.gif

But luckily the bride had a fantastic time and we made her happy. And best of all? It's over!
