Yesterday, I spent the entire day running errands - mall, grocery store, etc. Well, at the end of the day, I discovered that my diamond earring (the first 'big' present my DH could afford for me) was gone! Searched the house, no earring. Then, thinking back, I remembered that I had tried on a sweater at Macy's and maybe knocked the earring out there. My DH thought I was nuts but this morning, I went back to the same fitting room. There on the floor was ............ the earring backer but not the diamond part! Knowing now that this was where I had lost it, I found the janitor and asked him where the vacuums were. He took me into the utility closet and I began checking all 17 vacuums. After almost 90 minutes of emptying each vacuum bag onto plastic sheets on the floor and pawing through the yucky trash, I found it !!!!! (Talk about a needle in a haystack.) Boy, was DH surprised. I was so excited and relieved. But it got me thinking. What big things have you lost? And how far have you gone to get it back?

I would have to say my mind, and still have trouble recovering it sometimes.LOL

That's so great that you found your earring. I lost one about six months ago, but never found it. I got replacements for the holidays though.

As far as what I have lost would have to be my health (not an object). But now have gotten recent news that I am now a healthy person once again. What's better than that!

Swear...

Once lost hundreds of tickets to the opening game of the World Cup in Chicago... probably worth $50,000 or so. Was delerious after having outpatient surgery, and did not put back the safe deposit box... eek!!!

Did not even think about until next morning, and was sick to stomach. Luckily, that afternoon finally found out someone found them, and locked up in another area.

Yikes SSB!

Besides my car in a parking lot, usually I just lose them and never find them. Like my mind.

Hey, SSB. So it was the surgery that made you forgetful...............huh? You must have been terrified.
I'd have nightmares about having to reimburse that
ticket money from my personal account!

Years ago I lost a hard contact lens @ an evening men's softball game.....watching my husband play. Went back to the park the next day & "pawed" through the grass (under the bench I was sitting on) & found it! My husband didn't believe it either.

I lost my Wedding Ring. Thought I had put it in my jewelry box. We were having the carpets replaced so we were moving everything out of rooms.

Tore my jewelry box apart, checked heat vents, everything. My husband wanted to buy me a replacement. I kept telling him--no I will find it. He went ahead and bought me a cheap ring to wear as a Wedding Ring til we could afford a nicer one. I searched for almost 5 years for that ring. On the day his step-brother was getting married, I was looking for something in one of my drawers and there all the way in the back of the drawer was my ring.

Guess I should clean out my drawers more often LOL

I lost my car keys while swimming in the ocean when we were at Myrtle Beach...Luckily someone had returned them to the hotel we were staying at..

My mom lost my 18mo at the grocery store! That was scary..but we found him so that was good.

My dh accidentally knocked my 4 carat diamond ring in to the toilet! After a few weeks of tearing out the toilet, and searching on hands and knees in the septic tank, he found it! I know... it's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!!! :p

I lost an antique diamond ring. Well, I didn't lose it, it was on my nightstand next to my bed one night, the next morning it wasn't. Then I thought, didn't I hear my basset puppy chinking something in her mouth that morning when I let her out??? I checked emissions for a few days, then decided that someday, I'd get her xrayed....

Years later, like 5 years later, I was having a bad time at work. I went out to the yard to do dog dirt duty, thinking that my job, my whole life was dog dirt duty. Suddenly, I saw a glimmer in the corner of the yard, under the fence. Yep, it was the ring! Guess it proves that you gotta get through the dog dirt duty days to get your rewards.

No way! Thats a wild story. Im so glad you were able to find it. :D

I had a lucky break with a diamond bracelet. We were going to WDW to do the land/sea package. Once we dropped our luggage off at at Logan airport, we didnt see it again until it was in our room. While on the plane I realized I didnt have my bracelet on. At that point I couldnt remember if I had actually put it on with the rest of my jewelry(we had gotten up at like 3:00am). So after checking the plane and my clothes, I just hoped I would find it on my bureau when we got home...but I had a week to stress about it.

We got to our room, our luggage arrived later and we unpacked some and kept some in the suitcases. I then stored my suitcase. 4 days later, while packing up to go to the ship I picked my suitcase up and there was my bracelet under my suitcase.

Seems like diamonds are getting lost quite a bit. I also lost my engagement ring about 5 yrs ago. DH and I gotten home from a wedding both exhausted. We both laid on the couch and I took off my rings. We fell asleep. Next morning 2 of the 3 rings I had taken off were there but the diamond was gone. Searched everywhere I could think of. About a year later DH and I were getting dressed to go out, he puts his shoe on and there was the ring. Must've fallen off the table into the shoe. He only wore those shoes with a certain suit or we would have found it sooner.

My Movado watch. I misplaced it before we went on vacation in December. the a few days ago my son found it behind the f iling cabinet. Then I lost it again a half an hour later. I think it is in a dark corner of our house with my husband's Palm Pilot, plotting against us.

I also lost my diamond engagement ring. We worked with the youth at church, and we were on a hay ride at night. It was chilly, so I was trying to keep my hands down in the hay to keep them warm. Well, a hay fight started, and I noticed my ring was missing. They stopped the ride, pulled out the flashlights, and my ring was buried in the hay under me. I guess it was a bit too big and my hands shrunk in the cold. At church on Sunday everyone knew I found a diamond in a haystack!

I lost my engagement ring and movado watch together. When dh anI bought our first house we were doing some painting before we moved in. One night after we left to go back to our apt I noticed that I only had my wedding ring in my pocket (I took off everything to paint). My husband said that I probably left it at th new house. I couldn't sleep so finally around 2 am he decides to take me back to look for it. (it was 1/2 hour and a state away). When we got there I searched and still couldnt find it. Finally we decide to check the garbage and there they were wrapped in a oppaper towel. Thank goodness we went back that night because the garbage was out by the curb to be picked up the next morning. I also lost my watch at the beach once and didnt realize til we were by the car. My friends husband actually combed throught the sand and found it. I was defiantely amazed I thought it was lost for good. My husband lost his tooth (cap) in many places a pool football field, nightclub and always managed to find it.

I guess there are more lunatics like me out there than I thought!
But I think Disneyfan551 and Clutter win the grossout awards!

Both wedding band and ring my DH cleaned off the highchair and threw them out. Had no idea where they went and I was brilliant enough to have him check the trash.....garbage day was the following day. That would have been an expense.

Sometimes, I wish I could lose my 4yr old.

I lost my opal bracelet at my sons baseball game and realized it after we got home. It was in the summer and I live in a resort town. I thought it was gone and it had me so upset. DH rarely buys jewelry and this was a surprise gift from him. We went back to the field and there it was under the bleachers. I thought I lost the same bracelet one time in Wildwood but found it in my car. I don't wear it that often anymore. I'm afraid the next time will be for good.

This year after Christmas I thought DH lost the $100.00 bill my dad gave DS. We tore the house apart and I swore that I handed it to him. We were also cleaning the attic and had thrown a ton of stuff out so DH spent hours going through the trash and recycles. Nothing! A month later I opened a drawer in my jewelry box and there it was. I have no memory of putting it there and I know DH didn't.
