What's the best spaghetti sauce in a jar?

It is great if you doctor it up a bit and add ground beef or meatballs! I am sure this shames my Italian culture, but heck! Life is too short to slave over a hot stove!!!::yes::

I love Ragu onions mushrooms and garlic..its my favorite..

But I usually make my own!

I like Ragu Original, too. :)

I usually make my own sauce but when in a pinch I use Classico. I like all of there flavors. :D

Our family also likes a "sweeter" sauce. Between Ragu, Classico, Barilla, and Prego, the family usually prefers Prego--but only the Italian Sausage and Garlic variety. That seems to be sweeter for some reason (and thick).

My sister likes the sweeter tastes also, she always adds a tablespoon of sugar to her sauce.

My aunt is a great cook, she used to do it for a living. One time she sent over some unbelievable, THICK sauce, which I thought was homemade. When I asked her she told me it was Preog, boiled then simmered for FOUR HOURS! :earseek: The result is incredible! A thick, hearty sauce!

I usually make my own as well, but when in a pinch, I go with Classico Olive and Mushroom - its yum! :) And I too always add a pinch of sugar to my sauce.

Another vote for Prego! Although I make my own on weekends, if it's during the work week, I saute a little garlic in olive oil, add a jar of Prego Traditional, slowly simmer and at the end add fresh basil. It's a close to homemade in a jar that I've ever had.

My tastebuds demand Ragu with Meat!!:D It's the only spaghetti sauce I like. I also add some sugar and I make meatballs as well.

I usually make my own sauce, but I do like the Pasta Bake sauces. The three cheese marinara gets my vote for a quick meal.

sweapea, here's a money saving tip for you, if you use the Pasta Bake sauces for their intend use; the Prego Ricotta Parmesan sauce (standard, not the Pasta Bake line) is an almost dead ringer for the PB3 cheese, and costs about a dollar less per jar. I started using the standard sauces after Consumer Reports ran an article about substituting them and tasters not being able to tell the difference.

Overall, I prefer the Prego line... but like the Paul Newman sauces as well, for standard pasta dishes.

Victoria's Vodka Sauce...or Classico Sweet Basil Marinara

I like Classico, Barrilla and Victoria
