Whats the best sinus medicine?

I used to swear by Advil Cold & Sinus but I think I have used it so much this year that I have developed a tolerance for it and not its just not effective.
I would recommend skipping the aisle and go directly to the pharmacy tech and get something containing pseudoephedrine.

My first choice is a neti pot. Mucinex is pretty amazing when it comes to sinus medicine! I hope you feel better. Oh and if you have an infection you may need an antibiotic.

Mucinex DM -- the one in the orange pack that is kept behind the pharmacy counter that you have to fill out all of the info for the FBI in order to purchase it.

ETA: Also, don't knock it, but get some sinus spray/saline spray. The medicated sinus spray (Afrin) will tell you not to use it too often, but if you also get some saline nasal spray you can spray that every few hours and it does help too. However, my reccommendation of sinus spray is not meant to be taken in lieu of sinus/cold medication.

Advil Cold & Sinus is the best! I'm can't take it anymore because of a medical condition and boy, do I miss it!

I have to take prednisone for my sinuses because the pressure gets so bad I want to drill into my head to relieve the pressure and my teeth hurt.

I am a nose breather when I sleep and sleep becomes impossible when I am stopped up.

The Sudafed that is over the counter but held behind the counter that you need to give ID for now because druggies make Crystal meth with it is the best stuff ever IMO, pseudoephredrine. The stuff on the shelves now is supposed to be the same but it's awful, makes me feel jittery and ill but doesnt work. Usually my stuffy noses only last a day or 2 so I use Afrin at night and Sudafed in the day. if there is no fever I assume it's allergies and start with that stuff too until it works then I quit the sinus stuff.

I hope you feel better, my allergies gave me a double ear infection that is still being a pain...sigh& ouch

Agree! :thumbsup2 buy the "behind the counter" stuff!

The DOCTOR!! I just went 4 days with the most intense sinus/ear pressure pain, hoping pseudophedrine would help (the stuff you have to sign your life away for from the counter), and it would just go away on its own), finally the pain got so bad last night I went to urgent care and got on a strong antibiotic...I feel SO much better today. He prescribed the antibotic and Nasonex spray. It was the first time my ears 'popped' in 4 days. I'm going to the ENT on Friday, and i'm sure he'll put me on sterioids since my sinuses are so blocked.

Otherwise, pseudophederine, and Advil Cold & Sinus, plus a nasal spray. They told me to use the nasal spray only once a day, but it helps so much I wish I could use it constantly all day. And this is coming from someone who despises anything being put up her nose.

Unfortunately, absolutely nothing for me besides antibiotics and sometimes steroids (I usually refuse those unless 1000000% necessary). I get about 6-7 full blown sinus infections a year.

I can't use sudafed, mucinex, Advil, Tylenol or anything like that because that affect my heart and/or interact with my methotrexate.

Saline spray and Afrin nasal spray are the only two things I can use. They work for the first couple of days but stop working after a few days.

My mom on the other hand, swears my sudafed and mucinex though

Mucinex D Maximum Strength behind pharmacy. But seriously if not better get to a doctor. I also get about 8-10 sinus infections a year. Hate them and they are no fun. Be careful strep throat and stomach flu are going around at least by me.....feel better :)

neti pot, neti pot, neti pot....

if you have sinus troubles, you've got to get a neti pot...may change your life.

Granted, it will seem weird the first time you use it...but it works.

Just wanted to let the OP know that Advil C&S does contain pseudoephedrine so don't take it with something else that contains it!

For those who recommended Mucinex, does that come in pill or liquid? My dd ended up terrible congested last night and needs something strong, but still has issues swallowing pills.

The behind the counter Mucinex that I take is in pill form...horse pill size. I have to take a few pauses before I can swallow, and if you let it dissolve just a bit, it has an icky taste.

The only Mucinex liquid I have ever seen, is in the kid's cough formula.

My usual sinus remedies are neti pot/saline solution, probiotics, vit. C....if that doesn't work pseudoephedrine...if that doesn't work dr. for antibiotics. However I have done ALL of that and I'm no better!

Thanks, thats what I've found too and unfortunately the kid's liquid just doesn't work.

Behind the counter Sudafed.

Don't bother with anything that doesn't have psuedophedrine in it...it's a waste of money and won't do a thing to dry you up.

I feel like crap

Sinupret

I went to Germany, and ended up with a raging sinus infection. The local Apothecary gave me Sinupret. Wow, just wow.

If I cant find it here, I will have it shipped from over seas. It worked that good on me
