The Sudafed that is over the counter but held behind the counter that you need to give ID for now because druggies make Crystal meth with it is the best stuff ever IMO, pseudoephredrine. The stuff on the shelves now is supposed to be the same but it's awful, makes me feel jittery and ill but doesnt work. Usually my stuffy noses only last a day or 2 so I use Afrin at night and Sudafed in the day. if there is no fever I assume it's allergies and start with that stuff too until it works then I quit the sinus stuff.
I hope you feel better, my allergies gave me a double ear infection that is still being a pain...sigh& ouch
The DOCTOR!! I just went 4 days with the most intense sinus/ear pressure pain, hoping pseudophedrine would help (the stuff you have to sign your life away for from the counter), and it would just go away on its own), finally the pain got so bad last night I went to urgent care and got on a strong antibiotic...I feel SO much better today. He prescribed the antibotic and Nasonex spray. It was the first time my ears 'popped' in 4 days. I'm going to the ENT on Friday, and i'm sure he'll put me on sterioids since my sinuses are so blocked.
Otherwise, pseudophederine, and Advil Cold & Sinus, plus a nasal spray. They told me to use the nasal spray only once a day, but it helps so much I wish I could use it constantly all day. And this is coming from someone who despises anything being put up her nose.
For those who recommended Mucinex, does that come in pill or liquid? My dd ended up terrible congested last night and needs something strong, but still has issues swallowing pills.
The behind the counter Mucinex that I take is in pill form...horse pill size. I have to take a few pauses before I can swallow, and if you let it dissolve just a bit, it has an icky taste.
The only Mucinex liquid I have ever seen, is in the kid's cough formula.
I feel like crap
