What's the best makeup for a teen??

The dermatologist suggested Clinique Pore Minimizing but apparently they don't make that any more. I wondered about the Bare Minerals or the Neutrogena version. Do they compare in quality? Does anyone have any recommendations? I hate to spend a fortune on things that don't work.

I use Bare Minerals since I have sensitive skin and it is so freakin hot here (104 and we still have 3 hour of heat to go - I bet we top 110 today!) Which means that liquid foundations melt off your face within an hour (talk about a waste of money - plus the "gloppy" look isnt in).

I got the Bare Minerals off of eBay from a seller named sdmcclure. It was about 1/2 price (new and sealed). She also sells brushes and other stuff. Nothing seems to work the same as Bare Minerals - nothing that I have used anyway. That stuff seems to not sit on top of your skin like regular make-up. None of the other powders I've used are the same.

Good luck!

Im going to second the advice of MAC cosmetics. I have very very sensitive skin and its the only make-up I can wear that covers some scaring from being a teen trying to use cover girl or whatever else I could get that just made my acne worse. It also doesnt cause hives for me like other brands from department stores have. Even Clinique has caused me some irratation. Mac lasts as well, the colours are great and Ive never had a bad expierence in a department store counter or in the MAC stores ( or Candy store as I call it now) They also will do your makeup for you and teach you what to do for $40 and really its not paying them $40 you just have to purchase $40 worth of stuff ( that's the price here in Canada for that) If you have a teen that you want them to learn to put it on right and not have that line at the chin or looking like they are about to go street walking this is a great thing to do. Also it was originally created by a Canadian so that makes me happy.

Just make sure with any makeup that its removed at night and you moisturize. They also make a great line of cleansers and moisturizers.

i recommend Physicians Formula. it is inexpensive and seems to work well on my acne prone skin. i have also been using ProActive and of course that helps as well.

I've had good luck with Almay products. They aren't very expensive and don't irritate my very sensitive skin. I also have rosacea, and have to be very careful what I put on my face as many things irritate them. I don't wear much makeup, but I wear Almay or Clinique for special occasions. I generally don't spend the money for Clinique, but my sister often gives me a gift set for holidays. I'm considering trying a mineral makeup to help "disguise" my rosacea flareups. I'll definitely look at the links some of you posted.

I'm going to 3rd the recommendation for MAC. I went through a number of brands until I found a MAC counter in Pittsburgh and it's all I've worn for years now. It started out as stage make-up (you'll see their name come up in credits for TV, movies, etc) because what was previously available for actors was so greasy and nasty that anyone who had to wear it inevitably ended up with blemishes. I know people who think of it as "celebrity" make-up, but it got that way because it started out as a professional entertainment trade line before it went commercial (this is why celebs, actresses, models, pretty much anyone in entertainment can get a discount if they show proof) not because of the typical passing celeb trends.

It's extremely gentle and although they have products that you CAN lay it on thick, most of the make-up available is very thin and natural. Of course the big bright colors are fun to look at, LOL.

They always seem to have great people working the counters that really take make-up seriously and can find the perfect colors and products.
