I'd like some opinions on character dinners. We have CP for breakfast and 1900 PF, but I'd like a dinner suggestion. Thanks for the help!:thumbsup2

We liked GG for dinner. The characters were great, it wasn't too hectic because there wasn't a buffett, and the food was different than the average Disney restaurant. We're headed back there on our next trip.:)

As far as food and character interaction goes 1900 PF can not be beat in the dinner department. The Stepsisters are hilarious and all the characters play their roles extremely well. You really feel like you are dining in their home. Lady Tremaine is snide and aloof, the Prince is very charming and dashing, Cinderella is super sweet, the step sisters are uber obnoxious.

My family loves Chef Mickey's for dinner. I find the food to be gross but my family loves it. The atmosphere and the characters are super fun.

Alkershus for dinner for us is a no go. We didn't care for the food; we didn't eat it. We only do that one for breakfast now. The princess interaction here is better than at CRT.

Crystal Palace for dinner is not too bad, I find the food better than Chef Mickeys but that isn't saying much. The characters are good and the atmosphere is fun.

Cinderella's Royal Table is a nice experience and should be done at least once. I prefer the breakfast to the lunch and dinner. I really didn't care for the food at dinner and actually sent my duck back for another entree. I find the character interaction is poor compared to the other restaurants.

Garden Grill is a little different it is not a buffet the meal is served family style. I don't really care for the food although I didn't find it horrid. It was decent. The character interaction is a bit subdued here.

we had dinner at 1900 park fare and at Chef Mickey's last week...

i thought CM was better - better food and not quite as hectic....also less crowded....
though the food and characters at 1900 park fare are good...it's just more crowded and louder there than at CM....

on the other hand, we had lunch at the Crystal Palace two weeks ago and it was a disaster....terrible food.....DD got violently ill within a half hour of lunch (losing it all over adventureland)..
we won't be eating there again any time soon...

also the character interaction at 1900 park fare and CM is much more organized than at CP..
at both 1900 park fare and CM, a handler came around to make sure every table had interacted with every character....
not so at CP...

We liked the Chrystal Palace for Dinner they have a potato soup you could give me that and a loaf of bread and I would be content. The character inter action is very good, they even make a fuss over the adults and we food it fun.

the best on many trips over many years is Garden Grill in epcot!!!

I TOTALLY agree... it is definitely about the experience (which is great)... but the food is severely lacking (not to mention really heavy/greasy). I didn't like my duck either! All in all...overpriced considering the food. :sad2:
I thought 1900 Park Fare (dinner) was pretty good. For a buffet, I thought the food tasted really fresh. I enjoyed the characters a lot too. The chef actually came out and gave us a special personalized dessert for our anniversary... again, for a buffet, that kind of attention surprised me.

That duck was vile. I was NOT expecting half a greasy duck carcass slapped on a plate. I was half expecting the thing to start quacking. shudder.

We have had to drop Chef Mickeys off our list three years ago as food just gross and service :scared1: we like Tusker House with Donald safari...in AK best

Cape May with Goofy and pals (no characters for dinner)
Hollywood and Vine in AK character breakfast
O Hana's has family style with characters and dinner has games for the kids
1900 Park Fare is fun but food --fair:confused3

dinner with characters is CP and O Hanna's has games for kids need more for sure

great dinner places without characters is Kona's Grill/Le Cellier/Captains Grill/Whispering Canyons in WL is fun and have games for kids all three meals and the servers are a hoot...:cool

Depends on if you want my opinion on best food or best atmosphere....I LOVE Chef Mickeys for entertainment and atmosphere. But the food sucks IMO. I liked 1900 Park Fare a lot, food was pretty good for a buffet at dinner. I've never done CRT dinner, only breakfast, which was NOT worth what we paid, Crystal Palace is also a very fun atmosphere and right in MK, but once again, food is almost exactly like Chef Mickey's. I can't speak on the others as I have not been to them yet.

Hollywood and Vine is in DHS and I don't think they have characters for dinner.
O'hana only has characters for breakfast not dinner.

Best character meal I ever had is one they don't do anymore. pity. it was when 1900 Park Faire had villains. haven't been there with the current characters, but the food was excellent.

Hollywood & Vine for lunch was fun! Garden Grille was nice. but for atmosphere and tradition I'd choose Chef Mickey's for breakfast.

as i mentioned, we were at the various restaurants over the past two weeks.....the food quality has changed at all of them, so i suggest people stop giving opinions that are based on eating at them 3 years ago...

Chef Mickey's - which has been terrible in the past, is now under the responsibility of new chefs, including Chef Matt - who is doing an excellent job of raising the overall quality of the food. We were very pleasantly surprised..

1900 Park Fark Fare is the home of the most famous Chef TJ - who is outstanding in terms of providing individualized attention to the diners..
the only problem with 1900 Park Fare is the intense noise level of the restaurant - having i guess to do with the close set tables and low ceilings..
on the other hand, meeting cinderella's step mother and step sisters can be a hoot...

We only ate at CP once on this trip, but the quality of the food was horrifyingly bad. Time to bring in some new chefs and whip it back into shape.

Our family voted and we think the best mix of characters and food for dinner is Chef Mickey!
