Whats the "best" character breakfast and why?

I see that a lot of people are saying no to H&V because of bad reviews. We have done H&V breakfast in the past and really enjoyed it. It wasn't crowded, the food was your standard breakfast buffet items but was good, and you get into HS early which can be a bonus if trying to get a fp for TSM. We thought the characters were great....they came around several times and the kids are invited to come up and dance. I could be wrong but I think this place gets a lot of bad reviews based on lunch and dinner. We wouldn't hesitate to do this one again. :thumbsup2

Ohana's character interaction was great and I loved that it was served family style but not much variety.

I saw a previous poster note that Hollywood and Vine consistently gets bad reviews. If you read further into those reviews, you'll see that the bad reviews are primarily for lunch and dinner. The Playhouse Disney breakfast at H&V has ratings (on most sites) on par or better than most of the top character breakfasts and I can speak from experience that it is worth the trip. The only knock against it is that the characters aren't as popular. Beyond that- we got multiple visits from characters, had amazing service, food was on par with Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's, and the Playhouse Disney dance crew is wonderful...oh yea- and will still got out in time for rope drop! It's also an easy meal to get for pre-park opening and you can get some nice shots of an empty park with the sorcerer hat in the background before checking in.

Cape May is the only one on your list we haven't done. Crystal Palace is our fave of everything you've picked, but I'd only do it if I can get a pre-park opening adr slot. We liked 'Ohana for the characters, service and atmosphere, but the food was mediocre at best. We had an awesome bday breakfast at Chef Mickey's for my older one's 5th bday. The breakfast food at Chef Mickey's is MILES better than their dinner food. I saw a few people mention Tusker House and that to date is the only bad Disney character breakfast we've had- food, service, characters, etc.- really disappointing.

We just did Cape May yesterday and LOVED it! Food was outstanding, characters were great, and we loved the atmosphere. We did it on our departure day and it was a great end to a fantastic trip.

Our favorite is Donald's breakfast at Tusker House, followed by the Mary Poppins breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.

For a day @ AK, early access :goodvibes, food was fresh and good, both classic stuff and some 'unique', characters were good with kids, right next to the Safari.

Crystal Palace.

Why? Four words: Cinnamon Puffed French Toast:love:

ahhhhh! Oh, I could SOOOOO go for that right now!

Really, Crystal Palace is our favorite breakfast - we do it 2-3 times each trip, actually!

We also really like 1900 Park Fare's variety.

Really, we've done them ALL and enjoy them all! For us it comes down to not really the characters, but who offers the best something special.... such as the puffed french toast at CP..... or really like the breakfast potatoes at H&Vine... LOVE the eggs at Ohana... and the juice at Tusker and Ohana.... okay, getting hungry now!!

My first pick would probably be Cape May for the relaxed atmosphere and great interaction with the characters.

Next I would have to say Crystal Palace...IF you get an adr before the park opens :thumbsup2

My two favorite character breakfasts are Crystal Palace and Tusker House. I also really like Akershus, but it's skippable if you don't have princess fans, and the only really great food there is the potatoes. Ohana is also a good basic breakfast.

We :lovestruc Tusker House for breakfast! Lots of fresh choices and a picture with Donald at the beginning.

What characters are at Cape May? Is it just breakfast?

Cape May is Minnie, Goofy, and Donald at breakfast only.

We love breakfast there. The characters take their time and the selection is very good. We also had a good experience at Hollywood & Vine last February. The food was average breakfast buffet stuff, but there was plenty of it, and it was hot, and the service was good. If your kiddos are into those characters, the interaction was very good, and they get to get up and dance. We're going back in December. I'm not a fan of 1900 Park Fare - it's too chaotic.

Crystal Palace would be my pick! Not only was the food terrific but an early ADR gets you into main street early with no crowds- great photo ops!

Depending on who is going I like Hollywood and Vine the best.

The food is standard breakfast fare but it was hot and fresh and plentiful.:thumbsup2

But you get the Playhouse Disney Live mini show where your children can sing and dance!

Plus not many people attend this meal so the character come around in abundance and spend a lot of time playing and hugging and yukking it up with your whole party!:rotfl2:

Oh, Chef Mickey's for sure! Definitely make that ressie if you still can. My kids are 12 & 14 and it's still their favorite. Characters come to your table w/ample time for photos w/everyone. We love the food there, and waving napkins has become a tradition we look forward too. Plus, sometimes, guests in the hotel get in on the napkin waving from their indoor balcony areas. It's our fav.
Enjoy!

CANNOT BELIEVE IT!! just grabbed tusker house for 830am for our AK day on Oct 9!! :)

For my family, we loved the food at Tusker house the most, but at least for us the characters were only at our table a split second.

I would say the best over all experience was Ohana. The food was good and the characters were great.

Honorable mention to Hollywood and vine. It never seems overly busy, so plenty of character interaction and I thought the food was pretty good, it was the only place I saw a make your own breakfast burrito station, I love breakfast burritos

We are big on breakfast buffets, especially when we can get a time that coincides with more of a "brunch" time. Cape May is also our favorite breakfast place. We make it our "last full day of vacation" meal every time we go. It's true that most breakfast buffet places have the same food, but to us, the quality seems to be a bit better. It's much more relaxed here (although, thanks to a very rude and loud tour group, the first 1/2 of this year's meal was miserable), and the character interaction is really good! This year, Minnie made sure that just she and I had a picture together, as well as 1 of her with our girls, and 1 of her with just my husband.

Our daughters love 1900 Park Fare, and I'll admit, I enjoy it too. It does get loud in there but good nonetheless. We also enjoyed Akershus this past year. Our least favorite was Chef Mickey's. In all fairness, they were doing construction inside the Contemporary (2008), so it was even more loud, but it was just uncontrolled chaos. We weren't wowed by the Tusker House last year, but it was okay.

We can't wait to try Crystal Palace for breakfast our next time.:)

Of your four, we did Ohana & H&V.

Ohana was our favorite meal of the week. The food was the best. Character interaction was good. We had our best family photo of the week here.

H&V was my second favorite breakfast of the week. It was the least crowded. They had different breakfast buffet items that the other places-I enjoyed a cold cereal after a week of bacon & biscuits! Good character interaction & lots of time to dance with CM between characters. It did take a while for all four characters to get around, but we already had our FP's for TSM, so we weren't in a huge hurry.
