Don't PEE in the wind!

I took that advice. S

from my father:

"work hard, have fun, and learn new things." :)

From my father...He didn't care what I did as a career, but said make sure it's something you can support a family with if you ever had to. I never had to be the sole support but if I did I would be able to.

From my counsel, from the church, prior to our marriage: Get really good furniture. It'll last longer than average marriages.

:)

My grandfather wrote this to his children and grandchildren, before he died at the age of 93:

"Hold fast to the standards and traditions handed down to you by your forebearers. Never conform to the crowd. Stand up for what you believe to be right....even if you are the only one.

Trust in God. Love your Country. Act always with Honor and Courage and you will live a good life."

Hmm...

Tough choice, but I guess the one that comes to mind right now is:

When trying to figure out if you've met "the one"...
"If the worst thing in the world you can imagine is something bad happening to them, not yourself"

From my Grandmother "Love well, Live Well":) Sums it up for me!

Don't leave anything around that you wouldn't want the world to know if you died tomorrow.

As a kid: Don't eat yellow snow!

When dealing with teens: "Pick your battles wisely - don't fight over the minor things."

my bestfriend once told me-
God will never give you more than you can handle.

My Mom always told me to treat other people as you want them to treat you.

Years ago, the mother of my sister's friend told me this and I passed it on to my daughter. She told me when you decide to get married, ask yourself one question; "Do you like him?" She then explained to me that liking someone is different than loving someone. You may love members of your family, but not like them. Make sure that your husband can be your bestfriend too.

If you have to work - make sure it's something you enjoy doing.
Now selling comics and trading cards - could not be happier.

Two words of advice:

1) "Be particular." From The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love -

2) "When you have to do things to people that hurt them or that they don't like, just say to yourself - better them than me." From my grandfather at my graduation from nursing school - LOL - hate to admit that I have repeated this in my mind a few times over the years.

From my grandmother -

"Never do or say anything you'd be ashamed to repeat to your priest."

Sort of any early version of WWJD.
