Whats the bait for the DVC sales pitch?

In 2009 - We were supposed to get 3 fast passes each, but didnt tour until the last day of our trip so they gave us disney gift cards - 3 *25$ each..

In 2010 we did the BLT Tour and we got 3 FPs each person...

Last week they offered us 40$ AMC gift cards for each adult that sat through the Character greeting event...

Was this at the DVC sales building at SSR? I would have done this, we had a couple of down days.
I would have been curious to hear the incentives , etc...
I never even considered sitting through a presentation , since we are already owners.

Disney is unlike any Timeshare pitch you've gone through, they're not desperate to get people to buy, people realize that they are going to Disney many many times and want the added comfort of DVC accommodations and how over their lifetime gives them some fabulous vacations.

So if your just looking into it for a gift of some sort then you're outa luck.

But just to let you know, when we first looked, they bought us lunch at Olivia's when the sales center was at OKW

When we went through the sales pitch in 1998 or 1999 at VB they gave us a$50.00 voucher for the resturant at the resort. When we toured and bought in 2000 at HH, I do remember getting anything.

Usually you would receive either one fast pass card per person with you or possibly a $15 Disney gift card per person with you. The gift cards are normally reserved for those staying at a Disney resort. On occasion, they will offer one $50 or even $100 Disney gift card per family to those staying at selected Disney resorts. There are no "buy it today" incentives. They do have incentives that are available if you buy while you are still on vacation but they don't stick too hard with that either. Definitely worth going if you are really interested to learn more. If not, spend your valuable vacation time elsewhere.

The bait is Disney.... LOL Imagine, Disney every year or two for the next 40-50 years. Awesome!

Greetings everyone

We were just down in WDW and did the tour of SSR. They offer ice cream for the kids (and kids at heart). We got 3 VIP fast passes (these differ from regular ones - they print out the immediate time to return and not the time posted which could be later) to use 3 times each. They were set to expire when we left.

As far as incentives - our guide told us of one but now that we got a mailer from her, there is more to report:

SSR @ 99 per pt, 100 pt min (so $9,900).

AKV @120 per pt, 100 pt min (so $12k).
100 - 150 pts = $8 per pt credit
160 - 210 pts = $10 per pt credit AND $300 Visa prepaid card
220 - 300 pts = $18 per pt credit AND $500 Visa prepaid card
320 - 2k pts = $20 per pt credit AND $700 Visa prepaid card

BLT @150 per pt, 100 pt min (so $15k).
All pt values = $10 per pt credit

Wonder why they are making a push for AKV so hard?

If your interest is "bait," I would go for the full timeshare experience and book a visit/tour at Wyndham Bonnet Creek...or better yet, Westgate. Both of those will give you a stay of 2-3 days in a decent hotel (legitimately worth several hundred dollars) and the full timeshare tour experience (think Spanish Inquisition).

DVC will not give you much of value for touring and their low-pressure approach really deprives you of all that timesharing has to offer...:rolleyes1

DVC timeshare salesmen are simply trying to sell you a timeshare. A REAL timeshare experience is designed to break you.

If you want "bait, Forget DVC. Go for the real thing -- call Westgate!

Sorry for the delayed response! Yes - the 2009 pitch and this years greeting with character pitch were located at SSR...(that one ends with 2-3 characters at the end)...

The BLT TOTWL tour in 2010 was obviously at BLT...

They have specific activities for current owners that are differently geared than new buyers..You can always just tell them that you want to see the Aulani models and they will hook you up!

Thanks, I would have enjoyed hearing what the new deals are, and seen the Aulani models .

I'm in sales....I know how it works. So imagine my surprise when I was taken to a teeny little room and the guide sat between me and the door. He went through the pitch, worked up the points I needed and would not budge when I said I wanted to leave.

When released, I would have rivaled a cheetah's speed leaving the Boardwalk.

THAT was my first experience.

Needless to say, It took a few years before I returned.

Just got back last night from our trip and sat for the DVC presentation. We were promised some FastPasses. There was a mix up in our presentation time so to make up for it (and we weren't mad or anything) they gave us extra Fast Passes. Our family of four received a total of 24 Fast Passes! Ice cream too!

This was super given the busy season for our trip. We walked right on to Toy Story Mania. We ended up calling them "crack passes" because our kids were completely out of control using them on Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, the "Mountains"....over and over again to the front of the line. We didn't need to be anywhere at rope drop and had instant Fast Passes. Well worth the presentation time we spent and we are actually considering the purchase. That is why I am on this board today...researching!

Wow, I guess we got a good deal. We got a $100 gift card just for coming to the presentation. Also just one year ago we got 2009 points and MF @ BLT and got either $8 or $12 off a point (my husband and I can't remember) and at that time points were $120/point. I kind of just assumed this was normal stuff but I guess not! I love ice cream but $100 was much better!
