I've sat through a few time share sales pitches before in different cities, and although we have never heardthe full Disney sales piece, I have always wondered what they offer for listening and considering?

Anything?

Thanks.

Nada. Sometimes you might get a fastpass or some ice cream or a pin. They have on occasion offered gift cards here and there. But you won't find the "3 NIGHTS IN VEGAS + ROUNDTRIP AIR FOR TWO -- FREE!" you see for other timeshares.

Yup....maybe a pin, maybe an ice cream, maybe some popcorn.

Oh, and a pen if you need it to write out the check
;)

:rotfl:

Disney's powerful marketing combined with all those vacationers at WDW caught up in the magic generate enough sales leads. No bait necessary. I actually prefer this as the other timeshare companies tactics are really scummy, regardless of the freebies.

Kids got ice cream and we got coffee and we each got a Fast Pass for Tower of Terror. Course that was 10+ years ago.

On the cruise we got a pin ... or were supposed to get a pin, I forgot to grab one.

Incentives to buy were good enough to snag us: discounted price depending on number of points you buy ($8-18/point); onboard ship credit of $500; VIP Fastpasses; full points for 2011 but only maintainence fees for last portion ... not that I really needed to be sold on Disney, but it did help convince the DW :teacher:

Right now it's Fast Passes, 2011 Pts & 2011 MF's. A couple of bucks off AKL and SSR.... Nothing off BLT

We got cookies and lemonade several years ago. Then a few years less, we got saltwater taffy.

In 2009 - We were supposed to get 3 fast passes each, but didnt tour until the last day of our trip so they gave us disney gift cards - 3 *25$ each..

In 2010 we did the BLT Tour and we got 3 FPs each person...

Last week they offered us 40$ AMC gift cards for each adult that sat through the Character greeting event...

2006 we got a $25.00 Giftcard to Planet Hollywood. 2007 we got 8 FP's 4 for us and 4 for getting our friends to schedule a tour.

We have decided to go ahead and do the DVC, Since we spend one two or more vacations at Disney every year... :mickeyjum I was wondering if some of you with experience could tell me is it better to buy a resale or wait until we go to WDW in October and talk to someone there?

I've been researching until I am blue in the face!! :surfweb:

I've gathered these impressions, please evaluate:

If you buy from resale, you get the units at a lower cost but no incentives...

Whatcha think guys??? :confused3

We received a DVC Member tote bag.....we use it for the beach every year! But we also bought from home, didn't want the decision be based on a WDW vacation high. Took 3+ years to pull the trigger.....

resales are a much better price, but you lose the ability to trade for things like cruises and wdw hotels like the poly. the trades tend to be poor values anyway, but some people will pay a huge premium for extra options...

i would concentrate on getting information from posters here rather than putting a lot of trust in your "guide" (i.e. salesperson). some here are blinded by pixie dust and some are a little grouchy over recent changes, but if you balance things out you can evaluate if the complaints are things that would affect you or not. the information here is just much more complete.

you can still tour a model unit on the boardwalk in october if you like, or even do a tour (or a "member tour" if you are already under contract - where you don't waste a guide's time but you can tour the models at your leisure - ask at the kiosks and they can tell you the time to go by the SSR sales center.)

We got dinner for 2 at Spoodles when we toured Boardwalk when they were first selling there.
In 2006, Several years and 2 kids later, we did the SSR tour and they gave us a gift card, but don't remember how much.

When we were at SSR 3 weeks ago, they were having a special event and were offering AMC gift cards for going.

I got a gift card. That was limited offering though - there was a notice about it my resort room when I checked in. I didn't get the impression that was a regular thing.

Limited snacks (coffee, lemonade, ice cream) seem to be a pretty consistent theme - if you are at the sales center in SSR at WDW. FPs also seem to pop up as available pretty often.

The price incentives for buying direct through Disney didn't seem to "expire" while I was there - they had start and end dates for everyone doing direct purchases.

One of the nicest little perks - they picked up from where I was at and dropped me off where I wanted to be next. That particular day for me - saved me transport time between MK and EPCOT - a nice little plus.

In May 2010 we got a $100 gift card. Last Feb we got 3 $15 dollar gc's. Also, the juice/cookies/ice cream.

In Feb my son had a little accident in their child care center (which he had a blast in btw) and they had an extra set of clothes they gave us for him to spend the rest of the day in, which was nice.

I got an email from them offering me a $25 gift card for doing a 10 minute "phone tour", you just call an 800 number and talk to someone. They aren't pushy at all and I got $25 for my upcoming trip!

Maybe its because I bought at the sales pitch BUT I got fast passes and a $100 gift card.

I got a cool binder, mickey ears, and a cool pen from the Doorway to dreams in NY. Its great going there as a dvc member already because it makes me for even a tiny bit feel like I am in disney.
