Whats the AKL Pool Like ?

Can anyone tell me more about the AKL pool area ? And is it easy to spend the entire day just at the resort.

Boy, is it ever easy to spend all your days just relaxing at that resort. There is no other resort like it, in my humble opinion. And I love the pool area. The Mara quick service restaurant is right there, as is a great pool bar. I don't have many pool photos posted, but I do have one or two here: Janet2k's on-line photo albums

By the way, there are lots of activities at the pool for the children. You will find arts & crafts and also pool games periodically throughout the day. We found both of those activities many times during our stays there (last Easter and over the Christmas holidays).

The pool area at AKL is WONDERFUL! It's setup like a savannah watering hole. The playground, whirlpool, bar and the Mara are right there by the pool. You can DEFINATELY spend all day there. Great slide too.

Wow! Thanks for Carlson's site - hadn't seen that one - such awesome pictures!! I bow to the photographer who took the picture of the jumping water - I've been trying to capture that one forever - the best I've seen!

AKL pool area is nice and fairly large. I don't think it is a great kids pool though; but still a lot of fun. There is a lot to do at this resort and we are planing on staying the first day of our next trip just hanging out at the resort. We have our first day at the AKL but the rest of our trip is at the BWV. We plan on getting there around midday and having lunch (if we are hungry). We will spend some time at the pool and my wife wants to take the afternoon tour of the resort. This will be the kids first time here so they'll really get a kick out of the animals and all of the artifacts in the lobby area.

We'll be at concierge so we hope to grab some snacks around dinner time and sit outside later on to hear some stories by the 'campfire' they have. We'll be sure to grab some desserts and drinks at concierge later in the evening and I'm sure we'll have an early bedtime. One of the reasons we are staying here for one night (at concierge) is so we can take part in the Sunrise Safari the next morning.

I'm really looking forward to this first day because it sounds so relaxing and should really give us a nice catapult for the rest of the trip! With this said, I don't think you'll have any problems hanging out a day at this resort.......have fun!
