What's so special about the Vera Bradley bags?

I will admit, I wouldn't know a Vera Bradley bag if it jumped up and bit me, until this thread, so I went to the website to look at them.
I just returned from DW last week and I saw bags for sale in the Disney resorts that had that same type of VB funky colorful pattern, with Mickey heads on them. Cloth bags, like the VB ones. I first saw a woman with one at AKL when we were eating lunch and I caught the Mickey heads in the pattern and thought aww cute. Then I saw them at the CBR gift shop. I'm not saying they were Vera Bradley! I have no idea because I didn't pick it up and look at it, but it looked like the same concept. Fabric bag, funky pattern, Mickey heads in the pattern.

OMG!!! I need one of those!

But seriously, I looked them up and some of them are COOL. Expensive, yes, but they go on sale a lot here. Maybe I should go into Hoity-Toity Street Shopping Center (:scared1: ) and buy one.

I have heard that they are durable...but do you think I could put knitting needles in them without them poking through?

A VB Hipster is a necessity for me at WDW! I can get every thing I need for the parks it the bag and it is easy to carry.

I saw the Disney version of a VB bag during our visit over Labor Day weekend and the pattern is cute, but the quality doesn't come close to VB. I do not think the disney version will hold up like a VB

I'm smiling as I read this thread. I used to think the same as so many of you. They look like old lady bags! Ugly!
That was when I first moved to northern Indiana, aka: Vera land. After awhile, they just grew on me!:confused3
I haven't carried anything other than a Vera bag now for about 3 years.:rolleyes1
Like everyone else has said, they're durable, washable, great at keeping things organized with the pockets, and the patterns keep getting better and better IMO.
Plus, I've found them to be quite profitable on ebay!! Even my old used ones!

I happen to be a Coach fanatic...but Vera Bradley bags are all over New Jersey. Wealthy older women tend to carry them...at least that is how it seems...which is odd to me...wearing $300 shoes and a Burberry Coat with a Vera Bradley bag...wha? Anyhow...lots of patterns and colors...I got one for my mom for Christmas b/c she quilts and the bags remind me of quilts! I got a Vera Bradley make up bag from a parent of one of my students...I would never have purchased one for myself, but it is a nice make up bag and I use it when I travel!

shoes and bags are funny things...very addictive and you never know what will grab your attention!! :goodvibes

I haven't heard of coach so I just googled it $300+++for a purse!!!:confused3 I would rather spend that at disney!!!:woohoo:

I love Vera Bradley bags. They are so lightweight and comfortable and you can throw them in the wash. I'm glad I found this thread so I can get some advice as to which backpack I should take to the parks. I can't decided between the large backpack (which will mean I will be carrying everything) or the regular size. I'd appreciated anyone's opinions.

I'm a Coach fanatic too. Wouldn't mind trying a VB but have never found a pattern I like!

DD(12) and I LOOOOOVE our Veras!!! I have quite a few, in different patterns and different sizes. DD has a set of luggage, backpack, purse, wallet all in one pattern. I got my mom a set for her birthday and she loves them too.

Hey, they may not be everyone's idea of a fashion statement, but they are lightweight, washable, and cute. I discovered them while making my first pilgrimage to the other "motherland", Dresden, OH, home of Longaberger baskets (don't even get me STARTED on that theme!!!), where they are VERY popular!

They are perfect for traveling. I get the small purses that have the long strap to wear across you--keeps my hands free. I've used them all over the world. This will be my 1st time taking Vera to WDW!

I love VB bags!! I have 4 plus a back pack........they hold up, I can wash them, and I can stuff them full of stuff when we go anywhere! I also have the makeup case, and my 7 yo dd has the little betsy bag in pink pansy, so cute when she carries it!
I have several dooney bourkes too, but I stopped buying them when they stopped making them in USA.

I am planning to use my VB backpack at WDW.
