What's so special about the Vera Bradley bags?

I have 8 VB bags and matching wallets. I began collecting them when I was 16. I really love them.

I feel the same way about Crocs  (don't flame me)

I am from Indiana and have see them here for years and years. (The company is based in Fort Wayne) Yes...my mom has several and loves them, but I will pass.

Give me a Dooney & Bourke!!! :woohoo:

My sister and mom love them. I thought it was just me that didn't like them. Originally from Maine, but living in the UK- when asked by my sister if they had them over here I said I honestly could not see one English woman I know carrying one.

Not that they are fashion perfect over here by any means... I sometimes think if I see one more black dress at a party I'll throw up... I mean a "work do" this time of year and 95% of women are wearing a black dress! What's up with that?

But getting back to the original topic, just not my style.

I have recently purchased one that I liked the pattern on. I am, also, a coach girl and carry my coach wallet in my VB bag. Have my coach bags, too. I like that you can toss them in the washing machine for a cleaning!! I am expecting baby #2 and I did buy the VB diaper bag (that matches my purse) and ditty bag (think that's what its called) I love that they are so strong and like I said, I can toss it in the wash if need be.

This post made me smile. I had been wondering what was up with these bags for sometime. No-one I know owns one so I didn't even know the name until I read this post and then google imaged the purse. I live in PA and the first time I saw them an entire family had them at dinner from grandma & mom down to the teenie bopper with them. What looked odd was that the bags are sooooo casual and the women were otherwise dressed business casual and it was a very nice restaurant...the bags just didn't fit with the rest of the picture. To be honest I thought they were from some kind of church bazaar or that the young girl had made them for a project until reading this. Why else mismatch the styles? It's not that I didn't like them, rather the clothes ect didn't blend with the bag. I guess they would be downright cute with sneakers all summer but with dressy clothes, diamonds and a full face of make-up, uh-uh. I can't help but wonder if this look has made Vogue's no-no spot yet?

PS- Sign me up as a Coach fan too.

I saw these EVERYWHERE when at WDW at the end of June. Finally, on day 3 of our trip, I had to ask a girl and her mom who each had one, what they were and where they got them. They looked at me like I was from Mars. A lot of people were carrying the backpacks or hipsters at WDW. Jason Kidd (NBA b-ball player) was even carrying one big one when we saw him twice with his wife and kids...wife was holding the hands of the two daughters, so I guess he got the bag!

Finally saw them in a boutique in MN at the beginning of Aug. but were expensive. Now I haven't seen them too often. MN seems to favorCoach and Dooney and Burke.

I'm a HUGE Vera nut!! I have 7 purses, 2 back packs, a lunch bag and 2 large carry bags. They are right up my alley! I live in Georgia and we had one of those sales this year too! LOVED it! I think the patterns are too fun and there are styles to suit lots of needs. I'm not a "dress up" kinda girl and these suit me perfectly! Funny there's a thread here about it! I've carried my hipster & backpack both to Disney this year on different trips for different reasons!

I don't have one myself, but I think they're kinda cute. I remember when they first started showing up ALL over my college campus - it seemed like many of the sorority girls had them.

I like the fact that they're machine-washable!! I try to get bags that are washable, simply because I am a germaphobe and have to wash my bags once in a while.

Thank you! I am not the only person that does not see what is so special about those purses. They are UGLY!

All of the females in my family are obsessed. We love them. I don't know why. haha. I will admit that some do look like granny bags but there's just something about them!! :)

Noone has mentioned the fact yet that they are extremely comfy to wear at the DW parks. I really like how light they are ( I have a backpack). It is so soft that I can just wear it on the rides and not have to worry about taking it on and off so much. It's soft so I can lean back against it unlike so many other backpacks are. Now..............I'm waiting for Vera to make a Mickey Mouse one. MM ears all over it! WOoHoOO!

I love my VB stuff (I have a wristlet, a checkbook cover and a credit card wallet). My friends and family all think it's hideous, but they don't have to use it. I say buy what you like. I didn't like Crocs either until I tried them. Now my feet are thanking me.

HUH???? :confused3

Lots of VB bags here in FL... carried by people who are in the FL sun every day!!!!!!! I've yet to see one that's faded from the sun!! :sunny:

Same here. I live in Florida, and work in an outdoor mall, so my bag is in the sun a lot. I also take it to Busch and Sea World each about once a month. No fading.

Can't believe I just found this thread now! I am a huge VB fan, OK, I'm obsessed with them!LOL I am actually packing right now and I am using my VB rolling luggage! It is so great, I love it! I have all different style bags and backpacks, luggage, over night bags(satchel), all the different style wallets, watches, sashes, PJ pants, belts, umbrellas, not pads!:lmao: Yes, it's a lot. I just love the comfort and all the pockets inside them that help keep me organized. And they are washable!!! They wash really well and never have any of them faded. I use to make fun of them too, until I saw one of the microfiber ones that I loved, it all snowballed from there. There are so many patterns too which I love. My family all makes fun of me because of them but who cares! They don't have to like them. They don't get why I wear Crocs either. Even DD(9)is starting her own collection! She now has 3!!

I have to add that my VB Hipster bag has been my favorite park bag. It fits everything I need and goes across me or can be used like a regular bag. It has pockets and a zippered outside pocket and a slip in outside pocket. It also has a spot for an IPOD! Love it!!

I like the VB bags. They are not great, but they're kind of cute. I don't have one myself, however. See, where I live, there are a LOT of very wealthy people. They all live in these two or three areas, and shop in all of the same stores. If you aren't obviously wealthy, you get treated very poorly at these stores, and that is where they sell the bags.

Although, I must say--I don't get the whole thing about ONE type of bag. I have lots of different bags, and I love all of them, equally.

I even have knitting bags. So THERE, Mr PP!

Spread the bag love, people, spread the love.

I don't get it either. Probably if I had one I would love it though.

I was you this past spring. I thought most of the patterns were ugly. Then the bermuda blue came out and I liked it. The java blue came out and I liked that as well, but not enough to buy them. I have always been a practical bag girl. Black and simple.

I was carrying my simple, practical black bag to work one day and the straps broke on it! Instead of heading to my store, I made a detour to the only store around that had bags remotely in my price range and found a 20% off sale. That Bermuda Blue was available in a Betsy bag. I need pockets-and this one had a pocket for my epi pen/imitrex injection pack, my iPod, cell phone, makeup, my keys and room to spare.

Two weeks later, I bought a java blue keychain wallet. Two months ago, I bought an Amy bag to take to the amusement parks. Next up will probably be a hipster, though that Amy bag works great for quick jaunts out when I don't need to carry everything.

Honestly, that Betsy bag was more than double what I pay for a bag, but the fact that it is washable was a huge selling point. I love the color, too.

I will admit, I wouldn't know a Vera Bradley bag if it jumped up and bit me, until this thread, so I went to the website to look at them.
I just returned from DW last week and I saw bags for sale in the Disney resorts that had that same type of VB funky colorful pattern, with Mickey heads on them. Cloth bags, like the VB ones. I first saw a woman with one at AKL when we were eating lunch and I caught the Mickey heads in the pattern and thought aww cute. Then I saw them at the CBR gift shop. I'm not saying they were Vera Bradley! I have no idea because I didn't pick it up and look at it, but it looked like the same concept. Fabric bag, funky pattern, Mickey heads in the pattern.
